Parking Etiquette question

Doesn't the highway code recommend that you don't reverse onto a main road?

I always reverse onto my drive unless there is a very good reason not to (when it snowed for example, reversing didn't work very well).

The highway code only specifies reversing into a main road from a side road. If your driveway is on a main road, you don't have much choice.

In a supermarket I always drive straight in and will never park next to someone who has reversed in on the premise that they'll try and get their trolley down the side to the back of their car.

When I go shopping or at work I always reverse in, makes for an easier getaway :)

I've recently been educated in the benefits of reverse parking, so been implementing it since. One of the those that hasn't been mentioned yet is that it is better to reverse when your engine is warm because it's not as smooth and low revving as when moving forward.

Usually always reverse in as its much easier when you're driving out. I also read somewhere that it is considered more fuel efficient as you're doing the small manoeuvres of the reverse whilst the engine is warm - although the difference probably isn't noticeable anyway.

In the supermarket I just wail in nose first. So much easier to load the boot. When I'm parking up when going somewhere other than shopping, reverse in

I drive forward, then across the bay and into the opposing bay. No reversing ever needed! If there is a situation where this cannot happen i simply burn my car to saving having to park it.

Unless there is something fundamentally wrong with your engine or your clutch control, this makes no difference at all.

Even the Highway Code shows the common sense lacking in this thread.

Well you do, you could reverse on to your drive.

 A choice means you have more than one option, what's the other option in your mind?

I prefer to reverse in, but only if there is something next to the space I'm going into (like another car or a wall).

If there's nothing there to use as a reference I tend to overlap the lines :/
So then I just drive straight in..

I also prefer to reverse in, as it allows for a quick escape. Plus, cars are more manoeuvrable in reverse so you can get into a single space more easily in a car bigger than a stupid little hatchback.
