Is it dead?

I have a hiachi hds721010cla322 1tb hard drive for storage in my pc. i took it out earlier, and when i put it back in it now shows up as a 32mb RAW disk.

what can cause this and have i just lost around 800GB worth of data for good?
any ideas?

yes, that's where it says 32MB RAW

is it somehow recognizing the drives cache as the only storage?

Get a copy of Ubuntu or Knoppix to boot from and see what happens.
