Nice you should give another go on the lordship run segment :-)

Got hit by a car after we meet, my knee is still pretty banged up so I won't be attempting any records for a while.

I can recommend the Lezyne Road Drive as a good mini pump. Had to use it twice this year so far due to punctures!

Looks like a decent little pump, I'll certainly consider it when I update my kit.

Biggest quality problem is usually balance, they just don't seem to balance Chinese carbon rims and you can get unlucky.. in fact there usually built up too much round the valve area which just makes things worse when you've fitted tubes.

You can even feel the wobble on my mates bike at higher speeds, it would concern me on high speed decents.

I haven't managed to spin up the rear wheel yet on the bike to see if there are any balance/bounce issues yet - waiting on a cassette. The front one is all trued up nicely and there doesn't seem to be any balance issues on it when spinning it by hand at speed.

Had my rear wheel let go today, 10km into my ride and got a loud ping from the rear, like a stone hitting the frame hard. Could tell straight away something was up, pulled up and a spoke had snapped. Wheel was way out of whack, had to take the rear pads out so the wheel would go round, managed to ride it gently back home.

Swapped over to a set of Shimano RS500 that I had spare.

Not sure if its worth repairing the other wheels, once one spoke has gone, the others are likely to follow suit? They are only relatively cheap wheels, Alex AT450 with Novatec hubs, the rear hub has been marked where the rear cassette was installed by the PO, as if it has slightly slipped on tightening up.

I could be a cheap ass and learn to true my own wheels, and make one good wheel out of the two which I can then use on a turbo?

And time for a lovely sunny shot..

Not jealous, much.....honest. :(

Nights are drawing in here though, starts to go dark about 7:15 and is pitch black cant see your hand I front of your face 30mins later. When the clocks change in April it will be sad times, hence looking for a turbo, spent Saturday organising my garage and got the TV and DVD player in there.

Had my first ride in the dark last night, was pleased with my Exposure Joystick mk7 front light, bright enough, more of a spot than a spread, but avoids blinding drivers, and I don't need to see much besides what is in front of me!

I should be getting my new wheels in the post this week, but I had a dream last night that I took them out on the bike and immediately bent them beyond recognition, like practically folded them in half. Let's hope not...

My initial impressions are good, but bear in mind I've not ridden or built a carbon rim up before so I've nothing to compare it too.

They seem well finished, they're light and they're very rigid. Total weight is just over 1400g for the pair, they could be built lighter if you use fewer spokes (20/24 is most popular, these are 24/28) and either cheap Chinese hubs or very expensive good quality hubs - I went down the middle with Hope Pro 3 hubs which weigh 121g for the front and 265g for the rear.

I've got a few pics of them, excuse the quality of them though, especially the iPad pics!

They look very nice, very nice indeed and good weights considering the hub weight (but good quality of course).

Remind me again.....tubs or clinchers, 38mm or 50mm, which seller did you get the rims from?

As i said in another post i'm thinking of trying tubs purely from an experimental point of view, wont be racing but fancy seeing if they are as good as people say they are.
Weighing up either cheaper but heavier or more expensive but lighter chinese rims or paying a bit more for proper branded UK supplied and whether to go for 38mm or 50mm. eg

Chinese 38mm with basalt brake surface for £305 inc P&P, 1287g.

Chinese 50mm with basalt brake surface for £310 inc P&P, 1385g.

Chinese 38mm (1060g) or 50mm (1180g) with basalt brake surface, £425ish inc P&P

Chinese supplied wheels might cost £30-40 more if caught at customs.

Or UK supplied:-

Pro Lite Bracciano carbon tubs, 50mm, 1285g, £600

Thats what i've found up to now, open to other suggestions.
Tyres i'd probably go for Conti Sprinters and use Tufo Tub tape rather than glue.

Did you go for the PlanetX wheels or something else?

I used the same e-bay seller you linked, carbonwheels2011. I bought the 50mm Tubular Link Here

I ordered them on 28th Feb, were drilled up to my specs and shipped on 4th March and arrived in the UK on the 13th, it then took 2 days to get them to the Channel Islands from the UK.

I was originally going to use Tufo Tape for ease of use but after reading up I think I'm going to glue them as it's stronger and recommended if you're going to be racing with aggressive cornering.

I love how loud the rear hub is, it will probably be even louder when mounted to the bike!

Does anyone know where to get replica team bibs/jerseys? I remember finding a site a year or two ago that did old school cycling jerseys (pretty sure they were Chinese made or similar) for around £20, and I only need it for one or two rides so not too bothered about quality.
