Titan or 2x GTX 680's

Hi OP for 1080P gaming i would say 670 or 7950 will do the job :)

But if your heart is set on a titan or 2x 680's. as your looking for future proofing,I would like to point out if you get the Titan with it's huge Vram you could expand to 3 monitors in the future and still have no issues,Also i'f it was my cash i would go with the titan because some games don't provide Sli scaling to well.
Also with just 1 card your system would be a lot quieter and cooler while still not taking to much on your PSU.
Trust me on the SLI part as i my self play similar games to you with 2 gtx 670's at 1080P and 5760x1080.
I hope this helps and let me know on how your build gets on please :)

Thanks!

So after reading some reviews and this post I think im going to go for the Titan.
I think a single GPU would be better and would last me a couple of years before I have to upgrade. Also I like the idea of the 3 monitors with a single GPU

3 monitors on a single Titan is possible but you will have to turn down the settings to get playable fps, the other guys on here who have 3 monitors and use the Titan like Gregster, whyscotty and andybird123 use 2 or 3 Titans.

Wow! This thread went downhill even quicker than usual :(
I feel sorry for the OP, he's having Titan recommended to him for 1080p, he's at hardly ever gonna be likely to see the best from that card at that res.
Any of the cards mentioned will perform perfectly well at 1080 @60hz for quiet the forseeable future.

Getting a Titan is a good call as long as you are intending going
high res single monitor or Surround. IMO

But, You might find that one doesn't quite cut it

You mean the Titan that I've linked?

All Titans are the same. What Whyscotty is saying is that frames may be a little low and you may want to add another for triple screen gaming at some stage.

These will be what frames to expect running a single or SLI Titan :)

Aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhhh looking at that graph has just pushed me back to Sli 680's

I might just use on board graphics and have done lol but seriously I'm even more confused now.

If you are going to go three screens at some stage, you need to make sure you have enough VRAM, as you said you don't want to chuck another 2 grand on it in a years time.

If money isn't a problem and you want to go with Nvidia, go for Titan and you will need to add another at some stage. This will future proof you longer but it is going to cost you a fortune.

If you are not adverse to going with AMD (and by all accounts, they are very good now) and you want to be future proofed, go for a couple of these.

YOUR BASKET
2 x Sapphire HD 7970 VAPOR-X GHZ 6144MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £479.99 (£959.98)
Total : £959.98 (includes shipping : FREE).

Two of those for roughly the same price as one Titan (give or take £100).

Those two options are for triple screen and future proofing.

Two of the HIS/MSI/GIGABYTE 7950's would give almost the performance as those 7970 for only £480 ?

I would get a single Titan for now and see how you go.

Later games on full detail are pushing past 3GB of VRAM. I used 3.8GB on Crysis 3 at 5760x1080. I imagine future games in 2 years time to be doing this all the time.

At least with a couple of Titans/7970 6GB cards, I expect to still have enough GPU grunt and the VRAM headroom to cope.

With two 680s at triple screen resolution you will have to lower settings to achieve playable FPS in the more demanding games which will in turn move you away from the VRAM limit. Two 680s are faster than one Titan but then your upgrade options are limited to 3 way SLI which while OK, doesn't offer the greatest scaling.

One Titan offers you an upgrade path to another Titan.

If you aren't going to go triple screen then you should save your money.

Ok so I probably won't triple screen but I am looking at buying this screen

Would the Titan be a better option for this screen?
