GTX 680 Sli for 120hz Monitor

If you get a ref style blower on the bottom, this would help with temps. It blows the heat directly out the back.

So you think having 2 reference is the way to go?

You have good cooling, do you have a side fan? I pretty much have the same set up as you cooling wise and I keep my windforce SLI cool with a side fan. :)

Nah I dont have a side fan, does it cool well? I was thinking about getting some kind of bracket to put a third front intake fan, as I have 3 bays free below my optical drive.

If you have adequate cooling you can go with 2 aftermarket coolers, the extra fan cools it very well. My windforces never see 70. BF3 they see 60'C top card, one 50'C. In Crysis 3 it's 60 bottom, 68 top card. 1254/1780 clocks. My sidefan will help with the cooling and if you can fit one, I advise you to get one :).

Since Ive got 1 reference 680 at the momemnt, its really just a case of whatever is the cheapest 680 I can find, be it non ref or ref.

I will probably get a side fan aswell as noise doesnt bother that much, my pc sounds like an aircraft anyway:D

If you have custom cooled cards, I feel a side fan can trap the heat into the case but with 2 reference style blowers, it would allow for better cooling.

Update on this, I bought Nvidia 3D vision 2 kit:D

Does anyone have any recommended settings for it? or is each game different?

What does the 3D settings display in green mean when I start a game?

My emitter doesnt light up at all?? But 3D appears to be working

Oh and does new bioshock support 3D?

Thanks!

I've now changed my side fan to exhaust to suck the air away, it dropped my top card temps to 63 max Crysis 3. Also dropped my cpu temp a little. :D

Good to know :)

I am struggling at the mo trying to keep my cards cool. The wife keeps wanting the heating on because it is cold apparently  and the big problem I have is my computer sits right next to a radiator. I can turn it down but she would only turn it back on when I wasn't around :p

Water cooled was so much easier to keep the cards nice and cool, regardless of weather temps... I do feel that water cooled is the best way to go for keeping everything nice and cool and noise.

Support varies massively from game to game, the green type is telling you it's level of compatibility and what to turn on/off etc. If you want to try some games that work really well then try Metro2033, Witcher 2, Tomb Raider (2013) and Black Ops 1 and 2. They all look great, the first three amazing imo.

Yes you need it for minimum frame rates, I think you can get away with a single titan though. Ive got a 3d monitor and it was fine most of the time with one though, depends on the game

I've had a go at tomb raider and it looked awesome. I will wait till I can get a 2nd 680 for metro, as that didn't have the best frames, god knows what it would be like with the 3D hit as well!

Will check out that mod later aswell

Update on this!

Got my new PSU as well

I orginally wanted another Ref design, but got a decent deal on the gigabyte WF :D

Idle temps are 24 & 27 at the moment.

Just want to check something with you guys.

Playing skyrim and bioshock 3 I only had like 50% GPU usage on both, maybe less? Are they just not that demanding games?

I put Metro on to check and both were hitting about 98% So couldnt be a CPU bottleneck I dont think?

Whats your max/load temperatures like with the windforce and ref combo?

The GPU usage in sli was mentioned before, I cant remember the answer now hmmm I'll have a look

Yeah man, when I had my Phantom 410 the K2 looked MASSIVE. Heres my rig in the Phantom 630 and it looks much tidier:

Don't worry about the usage on those games, they're not demanding at all and I get the same usage. BF3 it sits between 40-50% usage on both cards completely maxed out. :)
