I predict we're going to see dramatic improvements from AMD

@ Rossi I would rather have smooth gaming over more fps anyday. It is a good idea and you can still bench and show how many fps there is, without it running smooth at all. Skewed results but hey, if it gets your brand on top of Bench results, who cares :p

'Nvidia has always had better drivers' is a myth perpetuated by Nvidia and nvidia owners.

And ATi/AMD owners, don't forget you have to actually own a card to experience driver issues with it :P

Seriously you can call it a "myth" all you like but the difference in driver quality/consistency is real and many many people have experienced it, Nvidifans, ATidiots and people with no allegiance. I would have loved to have kept my HD7950b as it was a great card but I had to put my hand in my pocket and move to a GTX670 in order to actually play my favourite game after getting tired of waiting for AMD to fix the drivers.

Over the years I have owned just as many AMD cards as Nvidia, hell my first card after 3DFX departed was a Radeon 8500, I am the very definition of impartial, I go with what offers the best result for my money, but when I figure that out I bear in mind AMD's driver record and the benefits of PhysX, however I have no problem saying that the best currently is AMD, but only because they finally fixed the driver issues plaguing the 7900 series.

Never really had many problems with either that were worth writing home about but I do get the impression that if I was to take a theoretical probability of running into driver issues, it would be higher on AMD than nVidia and probably more annoying to resolve. No factual basis on this observation, just my own feel on the situation.

Exactly, perpetuating the myth. :D

Never had any AMD issues at all, not even the Youtube idle clocks thing which "absolutely, definitely crash the driver or cause a grey screen". So ronely

/anecdote

If AMD drivers were even half as bad as people make out i would have stopped using their cards long ago and im sure the majority of happy AMD users here feel the same.

I should add that despite all the driver flak AMD gets, they're still winning in all the latest games vs the similarly priced Nvidia options. That is a true sign of how bad these AMD drivers are.

Bioshock, just released is another comfortable victory for AMD. So whilst AMD have their terribly fast drivers, Nvidia have their steady but slower drivers.

EDIT

I should add that according to the Anand article when AMD improved their latency in boarderlands 2 they saw up to 13% more performance. If even 10% of that is carried over into other games then expect the gap to get larger.

I would like someone to explain to me why I have had no driver issues of any kind for at least 2-3yrs having had both Nvidia and Amd cards in that time. I always install drivers over drivers, none of that driver sweeper nonsense, I install new drivers fairly regularly and have had most of the beta drivers of 13.2 and 13.3, yet no problems! Its a mystery to me but heyho. :)

I think you're looking at it too simplistically. You having no problems does not mean that everyone will have no problems nor does it mean that any issues that people do have are automatically their fault.

I do think on the whole driver problems are grossly overstated as you automatically get people who don't know what they're doing blaming the drivers when they've got some strange goings ons in their system. Doesn't mean that problems don't exist, however. :)

Because you're like the rest of us mate who don't get any issues, or any serious ones anyway. Things just work most of the time as they should. Its a good life eh. :)

Aye, wiggles me toes in me slippers and cosy up to my nice computer for some more Tombraider goodness. LOL. :D

I hope you have a pair of tiger slippers like me. ;)

I've always maintained there are some people who could get into bother in an empty room. Also if something does not work right on Nvidia hardware it's shoddy game development, if it's on AMD it's the because "the drivers sux lawls"

I was expecting to have allot more issues seeing as im a Quadfire user since the 3xxx, but for me personally its been great.
