Show us your kitty cats

Yes of course. I used to buy it before I investigated how to feed my cat in the best way possible for reasonable money.

You can't go crazy and spend £3-5/day of course, but there are good value alternatives to the rubbish they sell in supermarkets. I feed mine 1/2 can a day (she's a small cat) - works out 50p/day if you buy a case at a time

I feed Natures:menu which is Chicken (min 61%), Salmon (min 6%), Tuna (min 4%), minerals. No sugar or carbs listed in the analytical ingredients, and have a bowl of high meat content crunchies available too. (Applaws atm, but she's not as keen on them as she was on the Meowing Heads mix)

I must be totally wrong then, I obviously cant tell the difference between faux meat/fish and the real stuff.

But I wonder if any of the people who are slating my choice in cat food have actually bought, poked and looked at it, or is it just based on assumptions?

My current two Bengals came eating whiskas and it's disgusting. They are now on Natural Instinct (200g a day each) and they love it.

We've had to feed them on supermarket rubbish a few times due to running out by mistake and they never eat it and when they do their poo stinks to the high heavens.

There are plenty of really good cat foods from the mainland on zooplus.co.uk

I feed raw personally.

Can you elaborate a bit more on this, I spent last night reading about different ways of feeding cats, and this is something that came up a lot and does interest me. Especially because you know exactly whats going in to it and it does seem like a natural way to feed

In hindsight feeding a cat on pure dry food is not natural and I'm definately on the look out for alternatives. My wife has been out toay and bought a box of 8 tins of applaws which was on offer at our local pet store which our cats do like a lot however in the past they have only had this as a treat. I realise that its only a complimentary food but at the moment they are still having dry and want to get them used to wet.

Looking on zooplus the Animonda Carny tins look good can anyone recommend? Give their opinions on it.

Thanks
B

Sad post unfortunately, this is my little Arthur:

Only 3 1/2 and he died this morning. No previous sickness or anything, just lay on his back and he was gone in seconds.

Absolutely devastated :(

Raw feeding such as Raw2Go and Natural Instincts offers basically what wild cats would eat (the much bigger ones) as your cat is really no different except it's been domesticated.

Meat, Guts and Bones. yum yum yum.

Don't listen to vets whom will try to shy you away from it, they don't get education into animal dietary needs par pushing the brands that sponsor their works.

I'm so sorry fo you, I completely feel your pain he's so beautiful. :(

Thanks mate, couldn't believe it when we were woken up this morning with the news. It's the first pet I've had that has passed away whilst I was in the house as well. The sight of his little face nearly made me sick :(

Fellow cat lovers,

Is there such a thing as some kind of product I can put on my balcony railing to deter Darcy walking along it? He probably won’t fall off, and if he did he probably won’t get hurt, but I don’t want to take the chance, and I can't keep my balcony doors closed during the summer.

The only thing I can think of is netting which the cats cant cut with their claws. Secure it either to the brick or with wooden supports.

Netting would be my choice, just because I'd worry if it was any sort of product that would make it unpleasant/slippy that they'd slip off the other way, land on the ground and injure themselves.

Check you're allowed though, some places have random clauses in the lease which would mean netting would be a no no.

Animonda is fabulous, it's very well balanced and my cat loves it. It smells a little like corned beef bizarrely!

It's also sensible cost, my cat eats 1/2 tin a day in two meals. The only downside is that they don't make a fish variety, so I buy a more expensive cat food for a treat in that direction.

I need to sort out some kind of netting for our house cat too. We live in a top floor flat with parapets outside and big windows that open out (but no standing access etc). She could jump up and out the windows and then have free reign of the whole road (or fall off). Trouble is because the windows are old they open horizontally with a pivot in the middle would need two lots of netting for the top and bottom for each window.

I don't do homemade raw, as I have neither the time nor the space for the equipment required, so have been feeding Natural Instinct since August last year.

The small, non-smelly poops are the best thing about it tbh, lol.

I also feed any trimmings of raw beef or chicken when I am cooking dinner, though Winston certainly prefers Taste The Difference meat over normal stuff, little git!

That Animonda stuff looks good and I assume you don't have to freeze that stuff? As my only issue with the Natural Instinct stuff is I don't have a huge amount of freezer space, so if Animonda is just as good I may go for that when I get my Maine Cooons. There also seems to be more flavours of the Animonda stuff compared to the Natural instincts too.
