*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

It's not obsolete at all when you consider that not everyone has unlimited data. I use the radio all the time on the train. I wish they'd put in FM transmitters like Nokia used to do with Symbian phones.

What do you mean by transmitters?

You could play music on your phone and then broadcast it on a short range FM frequency, you could then use a radio to pick up on that frequency and thus listen to your music via the radio.

Best example of usage is in a car, you transmit the music on your phone and then you can hear it through your car speakers. Means you then don't need a cable or some sort of bluetooth interface and because pretty much all cars have a radio you know you'll be good to go.

You could also use it at say a friends home to play music through their radio, no need for fancy docks :p

FM radio will be a thing of the past in 5 years or so anyway! Might as well do away with it now!

Most LTE phones don't have FM radio as far as I know?

I want a phone with fm radio because some radio stations can't stream football commentary online for free cos of copyright shenanigans :p

In the days of smartphones and Internet radio people still want an FM Radio in their phones? Really?

Ah yes cuz everywhere has a 3g signal........ last time i tried you couldn't stream music on a normal signal. Plus it's a huge waste of data uasge.

32Kbps = 4KB/s = 12MB/hour
64Kbps = 8KB/s = 23MB/hour
128Kbps = 16KB/s = 57MB/hour

I've just ordered my S4 with unlimited data for £26 a month. You can't really "waste" data when there's deals like that about. There's no excuse anymore!

I've never really been many places were you can't get some kind of 3G signal these days, apart from when you're out in the sticks... in which case you probably wouldn't get FM either!
