Hey everyone new to the forum and overclockers ive built systems before but ive never really had to get the parts to build one myself ( ive allways asked a mate to help me out ) as i think 2 people looking over something is the best way to go about it ( hopefully i get more and 2 reply's to this thread lol ) so i just would like a 2nd opinion on the parts i will be getting in the next week or so...

well ive got about £800 - £900 quid to play with but cheaper the better...
i have hdds - psu - dvd writer - PSU = 700watts

parts list
Asus P8Z77-V DELUXE Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard

Arctic Cooling MX-4 Thermal Compound (4g)

Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX)

Akasa AK-CC4008HP01 Venom Voodoo CPU Cooler (Socket 1155 / )

EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with FREE Assassin's Creed III & FTP Currency

BitFenix Merc Alpha Gaming Case - Black

Total cost £918

question is... is this a good setup i want a good cheap enuff setup that will last me at least a few years until i get the cash up again to upgrade....

hopefully am on the right track with all the parts, what i don't want is getting all the parts 2 my door fixing it all up and kaboom doesn't work :/ because i messed up buying parts that wont work with each other that's the main reason why am on here trying to get a 2nd opinion

well anyways thanks for reading ( hopefully lol ) i will check back later on for any reply's any feed back is welcome even if it is "yes" "good" or "ur dumb" lol thanks again

EDIT: forgot to add the CPU ( kinda tired )

Intel Core i7-3770 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail

Ah right cool, oh yes - welcome to the forum!

So, firstly I've heard that some people have problems with the corsair vengeance range of RAM - I'd suggest going for sammy green, Kingston or TeamGroup for some high quality reliable memory; or if you'd like to stick with Corsair then their dominator range is good quality.

Motherboard, cooler, case and GPU are all good as far as I know - however, there's the eternal argument of AMD vs Nvidia which usually revolves around how much you're willing to spend on your video card. But, I always tend to stick with Nvidia as I've never had problems with their GPUs so I'd say the 670 is a good choice for now.

thank you both for the welcomes... and the reply

yea i dont mind using Kingston ram as i have used them before with out problems i'll change the ram to Kingston dont wanna take the risk in having problems with the ram later down the line..

as for the gfx card yea i have always used Nvidia and havent had any problems with them i dont mind spending the xtra £ on a gfx card that i know should be reliable.

The spec is just to show you alternatives. If you prefer Nvidia, that`s fine, as you are the one buying, so ultimately the choice is yours.
The case however, is better than the one you selected and will provide better cooling.
The mobo again is personal choice, so long as it meets your requirements.

ive never used Gigabyte products before i like to stick to what i know but sometimes that isnt the right choice,

the mobo u posted idleman looks good and the price is even better as i need to keep the price down as much as i can but not skipping on performance. but ive never used Gigabyte so i might need to look into there products and there reliability... i will do that tomorrow as of right now im gonna get some sleep...

I have had both Nvidia and AMD gpu's and there is Nothing wrong with the 7970's .... Apart from being faster than the 670 you have listed but once you get to this level as long as you are not pushing huge screen res then anything at this level will do you just fine IMO....

Makes sense. I myself have always had Asus mobos and Nvidia cards. But the way I look at most things I purchase these days, does it meet my requirements and fit in my budget. Do you need a sli/xfire capable mobo?

The great thing about the gigabyte boards is, not only their reliability, as people will tell you, but you get UK RMA also.

As for nVidia, if your not using Cuda or PhysX, your paying over the odds. The AMD cards are amazing value vs performance and clock a hell of a lot further than the nVidia cards. If you want price vs performance, the 7950 will be the way forward. Leave overheads for xFire also, you won't be disappointed.

thanks for all the feed back i will end up getting what Idleman posted if the price stays the same when i have the cash next week sometime as i seen the card is reduced at the moment i just dont have the cash in the bank.......

if the price goes up i will end up getting the 7950 i looked over google and seen good posts about the gigabyte products as u both have said all i need now is the cash lol

but in saying that by next week i could have changed my mind lol thanks for the help....

Post back when you are ready to buy, as prices do change weekly.

Off topic, but which part of Belfast are you from?
