Bioshock 3 - Infinite

Reading around. 1999 mode is sounding more or less like a gimmicky name for 'the difficulty above Hard'. Enemies do slightly more damage and take slightly less than Hard and you find a less money. Considering I didn't realise you could use Possession on the vending machines and they give you a small payout I was probably a few 1000 behind what I could have had by the end anyway.

Seems more like a gimmicky name without any real meaning to it now.

It was more annoying than anything else, it cost you 100SE to be revived and if you didn't have enough you were booted back to the main menu. The possession of the vending machines only gave about 30SE each time which I figured wasn't really worth it unless there were ample salt supplies about. Money did seem to be very limited, I only upgraded two guns and two and a half vigors.

It was tough at the beginning, easy in the middle and tough at the end.

Best release of the year so far?

Im nearing the end and yeh I think so, its a great game its just a shame it got dark and dreary pretty quickly, would have liked to of killed stuff in brighter settings a bit more before getting all nitty gritty.

Will be playing Bioshock 1 from the start after this as never completed it and in the mood now.

Gah I can't get past the lighthouse, game keeps crashing (and the benchmark actually). Updated to the latest drivers for my 7850 (13-1) and no luck. Noticed someone tried the beta and they worked so will do the same.

I don't know if this has been posted already, but it's just blown my mind:

First, listen to this (specifically the dying screeches)

Bioshock Infinite Clip

Then listen to this at about 14s in...

Bioshock 1 Clip

O M G

OMG indeed...also...

Noticed in the comments...when the Songbird dies the tunnel opposite can be viewed...little sister crying over her dead Big Daddy is in the background, you can just make out the silhouettes

Yeah someone said as much and I can understand why.

Start you have to suffer through with very limited choices of weapons and vigours.
Middle the enemies really aren't all that difficult.
Then suddenly towards the end you have those insane fights with Lady Comstock who takes a hell of a beating and infinitely respawns powerful enemies who drop **** all ammo and the final battle with enemies left right n centre.

Thanks for the info on DXoverrider.... It is still not perfect but it is playable now... Initially I wasn't impressed but after about 6 hours play time I think this game is awesome... Really cool story and characters and I like the weird locations and atmosphere...

For me it is. I think tomb raider had higher lauch sales, but there is a massive fanbase for the TR franchise.

I just hope that Infinite sells enough to cover the $200 million they spent developing and marketing the game. I read an article that worked out they would have to sell 8 million copies of the game to break even. Which doesn't sound like a lot when you think there are 60 million peeps in the UK alone. But Bioshock 1 only sold 4 million as of March 2010 according to Wikipedia.

Aaarh! Playing for the last few hours, towards the end, have to go out and the autosave hasn't saved for over an hour! Damn you auto-save! Manual saves should be standard on pc. Why on earth did they leave it out?

I'm just inside comstock house now, how much further have I got to go?

Have spent over 10 hours on it so far, every nook and cranny searched and spent ages exploring the bit before comstock house, I wondered why there was so much stuff everywhere then I realised I had to through the whole area again for the plot...

Either way I think every other developer just got schooled in how to make an fps.

Yeah annoying me a bit - just had to play an extra half hour over what I wanted just so it would save the last 20-25 minutes of my progress (about 45-50 minutes in total of gameplay since the last save) :| really really backwards mechanic.
