I'd be curious to know how the 'financially insecure' part is determined, as Firestar stated it seems to be linked to home ownership. Which as an absolute measurement of wealth or affluence is a total crock.

Well I put owns home over 125k, socialises with scientists, but still got working class.

Must be down to lack of savings and not listening to classical music or going to the opera.

Apparently I'm a Emergent Service Worker as I've not yet bought myself a house. If I had done I'd be Established Middle Class.

I'd have thought this, but I rent and ended up in Established Middle Class.

Elite. I don't believe that for a second. Both my parents were born into borderline poverty and emigrated to the UK at a young age and did well for themselves. Just because I have some savings, own a house and socialise with people who aren't cleaners or secretaries, it doesn't make me elite.

that is a bit flawed if they're trying to move away from traditional criteria etc.. plenty of people working in London and renting

also household income includes spouse but the survey doesn't take into account whether you're single
