Bioshock 3 - Infinite

Trouble with DLC is if it means replaying the entire game (because of the save system) to access a new area halfway through, or something.

Now at least replaying this game isn't a problem because it is so good, but still it seems a bit of a mess if they start adding DLCs like that to it.

I'm really worried about the DLC as well tbh.

Rapture....;)

But seriously, they can just open up a new area and have an almost self-contained story in it. There are plenty of places during the game where it would fit, and there are lots of islands in Columbia. It could work.

I would like to explore the characters of Fink and Fitzroy a bit more(especially Fink)

As a big big fan of the first two games I started the game excited. The first 5 minutes are beautiful, the set looks fantastic and really is great to see a developer going that extra mile with little touches littered everywhere.

Then I start to get a little disappointed, hardly any details to who I am, why I'm here and the plasmids are just presented to me without real explanation. There is a real lack of story for the first 30 minutes, just nothings really explained and I don't think the VoxRecorders add anything like they did in Rapture...

...However, a little further in - everything starts to click. The combat feels good. The levels feel much bigger and you get a sense of exploration like you did in the first Bioshock, so much so you find yourself constantly straying from the intended path. I'm playing on hard and it feels challenging, using the plasmids to effect and different weapons on different enemies. After you meet Elizabeth the story picks up and starts to make sense. As the game goes on you build up a relationship with your character and Elizabeth and have that thirst for pushing forward to see how the story and the characters develop.

Some of the places in Bioshock are a pleasure to explore, The Hall of Heroes being one of the most notable - Reminds me of Fort Frolic from the first.

Playing Infinite, I felt like that we need re-visit Rapture and base the story around just before 1959 so you get a idea of what rapture was really like before just like they've done with here.

I'm looking forward to my second run through to mop up any achievements. I've already purchased the Season Pass. A fantastic game full drenched in atmosphere and style.

My Jaw dropped when we transported into Rapture, what a fantastic touch.

Can't wait for the DLC, as said its pretty open for self contained stories. Just hoping for the quality and polish of Minerva's Den

You can choose which chapter to want to replay, a full resit would not be needed.

Thats based on your checkpoints from your last playthrough right? on each Chapter?

Just to add - I really enjoyed not constantly saving. Something which I was doing far to much on Bioshock 1 & 2 on hard.

Just had a look in the thread in consoles as I was interested to see how it was received on consoles and was shocked. It's like it was a totally different game. I saw a 3/10 score and someone saying Aliens Colonial marines was better :(. I really hope this isnt any indication of how the console market as a whole have received the game.

Indeed, the sheer art and setting of the game sets it so far out from any other game out there. Underneath its Bioshock at heart. It seems that the decent single player games are being over shadowed by the big multiplayer games on the consoles - A real shame.

Difficulty setting seems a bit hit and miss - playing on hard and most of the time its ridiculously easy until I run into handymen where it gets really hard - mostly because I've stuck with a setup and upgraded it to the max that I think the developers only thought people would use in the early stages of the game and while its good against most enemy its a bit weak against them... dislike how even tho there are options there for customising your loadout it seems to try and force you to use specific ones for different parts of the game.

I'm really perplexed now... I had a pop into the console section thread for infinite and as others have said there is a lot more negative sentiment for the game there though there are some people liking it.

But there's a lot less people actually posting and viewing the thread, there is literally ten times as many posts and views in the PC section.

It is like they played a different game!....glitches?... Elizabeth annoying and not doing anything?

How strange, I've just taken a look at it as well.
Only 2 pages and not much praise.

I’ve also just had a browse of the console thread, odd indeed. I’d guess there were issues with the console versions from that, but it seemed to pick up great reviews across all three formats so not sure what is going on.

A couple of people were also having a pop at Elizabeth, how dare they!

Im hoping the DLC is along the lines of 'Minervas Den' for Bioshock 2 (anyone into Bioshock should pick this up). IE a seperate story line playing a new character. (only shorter of course)

I enjoyed Minervas Den more than vanilla Bio 2 !

Btw you can't buy it from steam, only GFWL

Ghost fight(s) are making me sad, doesn't suit the way I've played the game upto now so I'm just constantly out of ammo... may just cheat to get past them as they don't add anything for me.

EDIT: Not to mention each time I die she gets healed more and more and I have less and less ammo...
