My 128gb m4 has been excellent since purchase. However, I updated it to the new firmware last night and it came up with an error but seemed to carry on working ok. Tried to boot this morning and the drive is no longer recognised! Anyone got any ideas?

If I have to replace it, what's currently the best drive to go for? Looking at the 256gb Samsung 840 pro for £179 with £50 cash back. Any good?

have you left it out of your machine for few hours then tried? tried clearing cmos aswell? this will reset your oc/bios settings though so make a note beforehand

Might be a eufi chipset thing.
check bios version vs firmware for those drives

and a manual update for it on another mechine might restore it

Reconnected the ssd and tried again but still dead. Then I tried reloading bios defaults and it springs back to life! Very odd.

Just hope it still works after setting my bios up again and connecting all my storage drives.

I always do a manual update. From the firmware page, download iso and burn to disk.

Then boot from disk and follow instructions.

Ah, see what you mean now. I did this with the first few FW updates and never had a problem (apart from having to disconnect all my other drives the first time). I think the windows FW update application is a bit flaky to say the least.
