There is something wrong with your phone...
The S3 with JB is one of the fastest and smoothest phones there is. Try running a stock ROM and try again instead of messing about with custom ROMS then complaing when it doesn't work.
The iPhone 5 is lighter and thinner than the S3 so that's probably not an option for you if that's why you don't like the S3.
I ran a stock Rom for a few days via kies and the battery was really poor and the phone was slow. I put the stock Rom on via Odin and no it was no better. Decided to install a custom rom which fixed the battery and made it slightly smoother but still slow.
I got the Xperia Z yesterday and I'm happy. Not sure what all the fuss was about with the viewing angles, zero problems here.

I went S3 -> XZ not expecting much it was more just for a change and the water proof novelty. I loved the S3 and changing to the XZ was just... meh more of the same Android.
Fast forward several weeks now and I am loving he Xperia Z way more than I did at the start or was expecting too. It never lags for me, ever. The S3 did now and then. The weatherproof is fantastic, the quality feel of the handset is head and shoulders above any Samsung handset.
I like to run stock roms on my phones, I have rooted and perfectly capable of doing so I just choose not too as they are more trouble than they are worth. I trust a multinational billion pound corporation to cook up a rom rather than a teenager in a bedroom trying to earn internet points.
The stock Sony rom is fantastic, much better than the Samsung rom. Smaller, faster, slicker and better looking.

I wouldn't get a XZ tbh, its bigger then most phones, the design is nice but it doesn't feel too good in the hand, nothing really stands out about it too me.
I would either look at the HTC One, faster soc, better design, much better screen, camera is still a mixed bag.

Nexus 4, Super cheap, same hardware as the XZ expect the screen/camera/SD card. Nexus 4 has far superior software, smaller which is a plus for me.

Still loving the Z here. It just works and works well. If i had to niggle, the only thing that has stood out in the last 2 weeks is that yesterday, i wanted to take a quick video, and it took a few seconds for the camera app to start. Surely this will be addressed by sony though at some point

By time I was finished, the phone was litterally covered in dust, and paint. Ran it under the tap, and it looks like new again. Theres just no real need to worry about it. Awesome phone.

The first couple of days took a little getting used to (mainly no physical buttons on the front) but i've used it some more, i can honestly say i'm glad i made the switch. The only negative i have is the keyboard can't keep up when typing on it but other than that, not one complaint from me
