thats horrible

I haven't read the thread but I'm still waiting for my M135i having ordered it 3 months ago. I'm really hoping the wait will be worth it. Performance BMW mag suggests they are kicking out 340bhp stock which is serious performance for a hatch that weights 1,400kg. Even if it produced 300bhp, that's rapid speed.

On topic though, many people on other forums are saying the chrome pipes are wearing and some have had serious problems with the transmission. When I test drove the M135i the interior felt about right in terms of BMW. To be honest I didn't really care, in terms of performance I am buying one of, if not, the fastest "hot-hatch" in the market and I can't wait to wind up 911 drivers and the rest!

Wrote that after a long pub session but I am very passionate about the car and very excited! :)

Audi performance cars are... questionable (sub appropriate word here)

exhaust tips on M135i are being swapped FOC by dealers with a little persuation, rusty seat bases are now resolved on new builds and again swapped out FOC by dealers

I have read of one unlucky owner with a faulty manual transmission, so wouldn't get too hung up on it,mine is fine with 3k on it. Same dry sump box as in the 1M

TBH most of the BMW 1 series forums are full of wibbling wrecks who expect a Rolls Royce for £30k :)

The weird thing is, I've never owned a BMW, but I've never seen anything that's ever suggested (other than this "German build quality statement" taht gets thrown everywhere) that BMW's are more reliable than any other car. I've seen numerous Vauxhalls, Fords, BMW's, Audi's etc at the side of the roads for years or on tow trucks, never once have I seen a Toyota Corolla or a Honda Civic. I'm prepared for the backlash here about this, but everyone just be honest here, I've seen loads of BMW's broken down... is it because there's more on the road etc? Who knows... however, I'd stand by the above... never ever in probably 1/2 million miles+ of driving have I ever seen a Corolla or a Civic broken down. You could argue they're not as technical blah blah blah...

I know the JD power survey covers more than reliability... but the facts speak for themselves... where does this "german built is bomb proof" idea come from? I know this is a yank one and it's just one graph blah blah just quickly found, however, BMW, Audi and Volkswagen are all in the bottom half... not surprised Mitsubishi are now floundering as well... the new ones are poorly made... amaingly looks like Merc has upped the anti from a few years ago? Anyway, sure loads will find all other graphcs showing complete opposites... so, I'll take this graph with a pinch of salt. 2 German make cars in the top half... hardly conclusive...

Thats a very good graph.

Verrryyy sweet, what colour you go for in the end? And we'll need pictures...

I think BMW/Merc/Audi have had to drop quality to get the prices lower to attract the middle classes, plus the other lesser marques have really made strides when it comes to interior quality.

I moved from a Focus ST to a Honda Accord to an A4 Avant, the jump from the ST was massive, but the jump from the Accord to the A4 not so much, both as good as each other when it comes to the bits you touch, the Audi does the infotainment side of it better, and I think the BMW and Merc systems are much the same.

Personally, I think Audi et al do a great marketing job at telling you they are much better they are, you only have to look at the amount of FUGLY BMW's the idiots buy:p

3k without it going bang? The pinnacle of reliability. :p

Nice cars the M135i, not much for that price can easily compete with it (new).

LOL at the doorpins thing, though as someone else said the answer is folding mirrors. Dead obvious if it's locked or not.

Like that graph, Lexus at the top .

Love the M135i, the test drive I had was one of the best I've ever experienced.

But the accolade of "fastest hot hatch" is with the RS3 :P
