I've never seen any of the star wars films...

Much to learn, you still have.
Nice, but that'll mean nothing to him right now.. :)

I remember going to watch IV at the cinema. Awesome films. Let's not speak of 1, 2 & 3 (not worthy of Roman Numerals).

I was a bit, let's say gutted, when the trilogy box set DVD's I bought when they first came out had all sorts of CGI nonesense in them.

I want to watch them again now. And the original Tron (which has no added CGI!)

If I was you OP just watch the original trilogy (4,5, and 6) then the latest 3 (1,2 and 3) then the Band of Brothers and sit back and watch in awe of the immense TV series that is BoB. You wont see anything as good ever again. Possibly. If you don't like 2nd WW stuff you might not like BoB but still, you have to watch it.

I'd argue Star Wars is overrated, but it is a classic and I would definitely watch it if you haven't.

I'd worry that you may get tarnished or all Empired out if watching Episodes I, II, III first.

I'd for for the older IV, V, VI and then if you feel hooked on the Universe it created, head back and watch I, II, III.

The latter didn't catch the spirit or atmosphere of the first.... but they aren't all that bad (Bar JJB).

watch the originals - pre special edition if you can - and forget about the rest, they are an embarrassment to film making.

IV V and VI are must watch
I II and III, if they did exist, should be watched for what they are and nothing more.

You haven't seen LOTR? Where have you been man?

The Machete order is a great way to watch Star Wars - IV, V, II, III, VI

There's a decent explanation why here but it is hugely spoilerific

After reading that, it does sound like a very good way of watching them. Actually made me want to rewatch the lot again.

I introduced my GF to Star Wars a few weeks back, i let her watch them in episode order and she has now seen Episodes I - IV.

She thinks that the story is great overall, but of the four she has seen preferred Episode III, to be honest i'd agree.

She did think that IV was the worst though as it was a bit too slow paced & dragged a bit, we are going to watch Empire Strikes Back later.
