*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Right, I've decided I'm going for the £26p/m chitter chatter deal.

With regards to keeping my number and getting the PAC code from O2, should I order from chitter chatter first then get my PAC or does it really not matter which way around I get it?

Get your pac code from o2 it lasts for 30 days so when you get your s4 register the pac code with chitter chatter and supposedly within a day it will be changed over.

Cheers cammy, think I'm going to order my S4 tonight then and pester 02 for my PAC asap in preparation.

Quite excited :D

The deal is less that £2 more than what my current o2 contract is, but better in that I get unlimited internet usage as well as 200 more minutes. Only issue is its 24 months, but how many of us have had reservations about the length of a contract and found its not that big a deal anyway.

Am I right in saying that you cannot turn the phone into a wifi hotspot if you have unlimited internet usage? As you could just go over the 'sensible' limit?

Or have I read something odd / wrong somewhere online and this isn't the case?

Yeah it's probably got a fair usage policy, but I imagine they'd have to warn you before telling you they need to charge you for further usage.

Just ordered mine on the phone.

Spoke to a lady at Chitter Chatter. She informs me:

1. The unlimited data usage on the £26p/m deal is truly unlimited. However she says you're not allowed to use it for tethering. She couldn't confirm whether T-Mobile had deactivated something in the phone or not to stop that or whether it was just a case that they can see from the data usage that several people are tethering from your line. (I'm guessing you can still tether, but they will realise if you share it with every Tom, Dick and Harry in your block of flats).

2. For every person I recommend and they go with Chitter Chatter and they say I recommended them, I can get £25 from them. Hit me up if you want to strike a deal on some cash back.

3. Chitter Chatter will be increasing the phone price to £199 from the 26 April.

Hmmm okay ... I wonder if it is actually blocked ... Or they just don't want you to use it. I don't use it often on my One X but it is handy to have if I'm out and want internet on my tablet and there's no wifi ... Suppose I could just use my phone instead then

I'd almost guarantee the phone supplied by chitter chatter will be unbranded so T mob won't have messed with it to disable tethering either way it's very easy to flash an unbranded ROM, basically for the moment at least as long as you don't take the urine they're unlikely to bust you for tethering.
Either way they'll ask you to stop before they stomp around cancelling contracts and things.

Yeah azi precisely what I was thinking. I can't imagine T-Mobile would actually block it but instead can only assume they've taken this stance and put it in their T&C's to stop people taking the pee.

I bet you can use it all you want for personal use and then just tether it to your tablet. I had in mind that I might get a tablet without a connection and use the phone for this purpose, but if it's just for general web browsing I guess one of the reasons I wanted the S4 anyway was because of the bigger screen and so that should compensate somewhat.

Yeah I see what you're saying ... I didn't mean specifically for this chitter chatter deal though, I was just asking in general about all unlimited data deals as I thought I read that somewhere but I assume like you say they can't really tell if you're using it for that and they'll ask you to stop first :)

Yeah it's not like the tablet would use much anyway on the occasional times I do use it without wi-fi. Would probably be quicker to get the phone out anyway as I don't normally have the tablet with me out and about, was just curious as to whether it would work or not :)

One of the ways they pick up on you tethering is services going out to IP addresses associated with things such as windows pcs or macs, so unless they've really got a reason to watch you tethering on an android tab when you've got an android phone shouldn't cause any issues.

Keep the phone for a year - eBay it for £300 - pay of the remainder of 12x£26 =£312 take out new contract for better phone in a year - bobs your aunt fannys your uncle rinse repeat .

4Mb/s down, 1Mb/s up iirc.

Yep - I get this on Full Monty sim-only.......
However, on earlier posts re: tethering, I have had no issues using wireless hotspot a couple of times (One X) to provide my laptop with a connection for some emailing (Premier Inn wifi is full of fail!)

Yeah that makes sense :)
