Games you didn't finish, and why

Ones I can remember off the top of my head:

Skyrim - in some ways its a great game but lots of small things like merchants levelling up with you completely broke the immersion for me, also found a lot of the backend mechanics either lacking in information or just clunky. (and I always like to do the first place through of a game without mods that massively change gameplay aspects).

Knights of the Old Republic - quit after barely 5 minutes the whole movement/controls felt like you were in a straight jacket.

last game i finished was half life 2 ep 2
all other games i can think off i get about 75% through just never finish them
getting older and limited time just means i end up looking for new things to play get bored fast i only have 2 games i really want to get round to finishing that's borderlands 1 & 2

The only one i havent finished through actual choice is bioshock 1, it bored me to tears :(

Lots of games i havent finished due to starting another game and never going back too though :(

Bioshock infinite.
Got right to irritating final battle, had a couple of goes, quit deleted game watched it on youtube instead.
Beautifull game, shallow as a puddle gameplay.

I think that battle bugs out for some people - tho it was irritating and should never have been in the game in the first place. I had over 20 attempts at it where I was just getting wave after wave of patriots and eventually failing after running out of ammo (yes I was using songbird to destroy the zepplins) when I finally completed it I did it really easy after only 3 waves of enemy and going back and playing with it after completing the game it seems like it was bugged out for me (until it randomly started working properly) and just restarting the battle script everytime it should have been moving onto the next bit of the game.

Games I've invested time in then not bothered to finish.

Arkham asylum.
Shadows of the damned (great game spoilt by one stupidly difficult boss battle that I've really not got the patience for)
Vanquish (possibly the greatest 3rd person shooter ever, spoilt by a stupidly difficult boss fight half way through it)
Uncharted 3, its just not as good as 2, in fact, its a bit boring.
BioShock (gets a bit boring mid way through)
GTA3 and 4 fun for a couple of hours, then they become boring very quickly.
I'm sure there are others (I know there are, there are loads of them but my mind has gone blank)

Ah right

Recent ones would be

Alan wake (stupid shine the light, shoot with a gun mechanic became dull and boring)

Hunted (keep asking myself why i bothered to buy it in the first place)

Zia

Far Cry & Far Cry 2

Boring and Couldn't get into them (completed and loved Far Cry 3 though)

Deus Ex: HR

Really enjoyed it up to the second boss fight, what sort of game has boss fights now-a-days?

Dead Rising 2

Great game, just brutally tough...

Hitman Absolution

Was really liking this game but the missions became so repetitive i just left it.. Shame..

Saints Row: The Third

It was trying to hard to be funny and that started to annoy me, nearly uninstalled it.

I wish I'd stopped playing that one. The first 6 hours were OK. The last 12 hours I kept asking when it would end :p

I'm too stubborn (and stupid) to quit tho :/

Game: Doom 3 BFG edition.
Reason: It was a PC port of a console game which was an update of a console port of the PC game Doom III, and it was notably graphically inferior to Doom III, so I played through that again instead lol.

Game: Last Battle (Megadrive).
Reason: It was an English port of a raging fist of the nothern star game, so with no understanding of the story you were supposed to be playing out and only the basic "button = this" instructions it was pretty impossible.

Game: Supreme Commander 2.
Reason: It was a a total let-down, completely "consolized" and dumbed down to appease Square Enix who had bought the franchise, It was like playing Starcraft >.> a terrible end to a great legacy (SCom was the successor title to Total Annihilation, AKA the greatest RTS ever made).

Game: That RAGE expansion.
Reason: Borderlands 2 came out a couple of days later.

Game: Commander Keen series.
Reason: iD software never made the final 3 episodes :( stopping at number 7 because they were raking it in from Wolfenstein and Doom, so the company that created side scrollers on the PC decided to ditch their star franchise in order to become an FPS only company, Apogee/3DR then followed suit but took their poster boy Duke Nukem along for the ride).

I think to qualify for this thread you should have invested at least 3 in them to avoid all the games people tried for one sitting and then ditched. Here's a couple of mine:

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: Really annoying FPS cap, found a hack to get 60fps which made it just about playable, did a few missions but got to a boss fight I was struggling with. A classic case of style over substance, the whole lightsabre ownage thing is fun for a while but soon gets repetitive and if it wasn't part of the SW franchise nobody would give it a second look.

Need for Speed: Shift 2: Got thoroughly peeved at the horrendous AI scaling that makes upgrading your cars basically pointless and in some cases counter-productive, the easiest way to win races is often to just drive a stock car because it means your opponents are rubbish as well and at lower speeds you don't make as many mistakes. It is so bad, I had the best car in the class, maxed out all upgrades, engine swap out etc and all that resulted in was blatant cheating from the opposition, with magic upgrades to their inferior motors. So bad that the only way I could beat that race was to buy a different car and deliberately NOT upgrade it. :(

Painkiller Resurrection: Fun game in the well designed sections but I ended up getting stuck in a tough section due to very limited ammo. Lacking polish like all the recent PK games that basically seem to be the publishers cashing in on community mods.

I think its impossible to complete this game, maybe someone can prove me wrong.

Cheers, I played the original CS a couple of times and it seemed pretty much the same, obviously haven't learned their lesson so I'll give the new version a miss.

Got a few in my Steam list that i bought in the Steam sale i have yet to even play.

Dead Rising 2: Got it because i never had an Xbox and the first game looked epic, this game imo was very boring after a couple of hours, strange cutting zombies in half with a sword and hitting them with a Guitar is only fun for so long, then when you go to the story you realize it was put together by someone with no effort to make it half decent.

The Witcher 2: I'm just terrible at this game, i get my ass handed to me all the time in the forest area, even got 5 hours training in the Arena and im still like a toddler with Claymore.

Dead Island: 17 hours into the game, 5 hours sorting out the glitches and graphical issues, rest having fun with a metal pole that Fus Ro Dah'd zombies across the space of the games map, then i just randomly gave up because smashing zombies and kicking them in the ass when they are down got old in the first 3 hours.

STALKER series: Again one of those games i just seem to suck at but would like to complete, i just can't be bothered.

Possibly some smaller games that i still plan to complete though and have not given up on as of yet. To add, two games i wished that i had never completed: Far Cry 2 and RAGE. My god i hated those games but forced myself to play them from start to finish...at least Far Cry 2 has a great sequel to make up for how terrible it is, RAGE on the other hand...

Mass Effect 1

Played it about 75% through and game crashed and corrupted my most recent save. Most recent save that worked was a few hours old and I couldn't be bothered to go back and redo.
