*breaking news* Boston Marathon explosions

UPDATE: 6:00 AM EST

Despite reports from the police scanner that confirmed Tripathi was, in fact, the person who they believed to be the second suspect, NBC News reported that the missing Brown University student is not a suspect.

To answer both of you; No names have been officially released by the FBI. There has already been a couple of people who have been falsely accused and had their names splashed all around the internet. Until a name comes from official sources - namely the FBI who are running with this case, then I'd hold off on naming people as they may or may not be the right names.

Actually, the two guys with bags had their picture show across the net, their names are known as they turned themselves in and spoke to the press (afaik their names weren't known till then).

A picture that puts a target on someone is insanely dangerous, 99% of people share a name with 100's, 1000's or even 1,000,000's or others. When someone accuses Mohammed of something, do we automatically know who they are talking about.

A picture of a face means a lot more than a name , and lets not forget THESE TWO GUYS ARE DEAD. So who is going to rush out and attack someone with the same name if that name was on a forum somewhere, when the information the two named guys are DEAD already is with that information... answer is no one, no one at all.

The chance some daft mob in america, with pictures or a guy and suspects at large MAY decide to enact some mob justice on an innocent guy is potentially quite high, chance people will go out and find a random guy with the same name and beat them to death, knowing the two guys guilty for the bombs are dead... errm, nil.

Because how many times has stuff been "officially confirmed" for it to be total bull. People listening in on police scanners do not have the full picture, hence things like reporting of devices found, suspect arrested blah blah.

Well the police would be to blame then not the media or reddit as the last suspect that was falsely accused.

They've just arrested some suspects. Three of them in a cab apparently.

One white male.
Driver Middle Eastern.
Passenger Middle Eastern.

Correct, they're names were released by reddit and other sites and they were tagged as being the bombers. This is taken from the Guardian site:

11.03am BST
A teenage boy, who was wrongly identified earlier this week on the internet as a bomb suspect, says he still fears for his life despite being cleared by the police.

Sulahaddin Barhoum, a 17-year-old Moroccan, who moved to the US with his family, told the Daily Mail:

Late last night friends started calling and emailing me – they said my photo was all over the internet, that I was a suspect in the Boston bombing.

I was terrified, I have never been in trouble and I feared for my security.

I called a friend to take me to the state police – I walked in to the lobby and told them I thought I was wanted by the FBI. They didn’t know what to make of it.

I was there about 25 minutes but I was very frightened. I still am – my photograph is all over the internet and I worry that someone, a mad person, might come after me and my family.

So a guy who has had their name released all over the net and wrongly labelled as being the bomber is now afraid of his life.

Let's also remember drunkenmaster that the second guy isn't confirmed dead. In fact, Sean Kelly is saying that a person is in custody - although no confirmation. Either way, we don't know what suspect number 2 is dead or not yet, all we know is that number 1 is.
