LOL this thread is hilarious absolutely hilarious. OP makes a post about a 5 yr old girl in India that was brutally raped and then you have Magnolia who accuses him of racism, when in reality there was absolutely no racism connotation in his opening post.
Absolutely hilarious but sad and pathetic to see racism come up in this topic, when it has nothing to do with it.
Anyhow caught this yesterday on the news and i have to say its absolutely shocking, last yr a woman was brutally raped and died of her injuries...god knows what happened to those sick barstewards but hopefully they got the rope. My mum was watching one of her indian news channel and they were showing a video clip of the police slapping a couple of women. I have absolutely nothing against India and indians in general but that country is a cesspool. How you can have the police bribe a father to keep shut about it takes the biscuit then you have the police slapping people around because they are corrupt and useless at doing their jobs??.
Lets hope the govt there in India take very strong action against those corrupt policemen, they should be jailed for their actions and behaviour. But probably wont happen as these sort of things are usually swept under the rug.

I think you've put what you intended really tactfully actually and you should deserve credit for that. I am however neither agreeing or disagreeing with you - even I know when it is time to sit on the fence and keep my opinion to myself.

Oh man.. I am from India and this is horrendous. However if you have money in India you really can go GTA style and do whatever the ** you want.
When it comes to laws for protecting women there is very little. Once I was in a queue in a shop to pay for my wife's engagement ceremony dress. She was standing to the side of me. And a filthy dirty guy walks over to the side of her and gropes her behind right in front of me. When I confronted him, he asked what I was going to do about it, as it wasn't illegal so I proceeded to smash the crap out of him in the store and in rage broke his jaw and embedded his tooth in my hand.. A crowd gathered but no one stopped me. I left as the store owner just asked for £5 to clean up the bloody mess. Hopefully he learned a lesson..
But even older women in public buses get groped and felt up by men. There are many stories of good friends of mine from the UK (White) who have all been harassed sexually in one way or another in India. Unless you are accompanied by a man in India you are rape bait.. the reported rape stats are far too low because it is culturally stigmatic to be unpure. So if you get raped you'll never be married or have a life. There is a high incidence of self immolation or suicide after these events.
So no.. this isn't racism its the reality of a country full of men who are sexually repressed all their lives (culturally and religiously via Islam). Most of them can't have sex before marriage so they are on the prowl constantly to rape. You just need to go on youtube to see the type of stuff that happens in India.

I dont know for sure but from what the media over there are saying, it looks to be a bribe ie they shoved about £25 in the fathers pocket and told him not to mention anything to anyone.
Like i said i dont know if this happens a lot over there ie police officers giving bribes to shut people up.

Yep, and a week before that a Swiss couple got raped. But to be fair India is under the spotlight at the moment so pretty much everything is getting news time around the wolrd, making it look 10x as bad.
