THQ broken up & sold off today

Sigh of relief that Relic and 4A aren't going to Ubi or EA (*shudder*). Really looking forward to CoH2 and Last Light.

Was only mildly interested in the new South Park game, but not much at all now that Ubi control it..

As much as I would love it, I honestly don't think that a 40k Total War would work

Total war games work best with melee centred combat

Surely the 40k universe has plenty of melee battles? Hell practically everything in the Ultramarines Omnibus seems to eventually deteriorate into melee combat no matter who the enemy is, be it Tyranid, rogue Imperials, Chaos or Dark Elder.

Dawn of War no1. not 2 imo

I'm really not getting the hate for DoW2. Yes, it wasn't DoW1, but it was still a good game with a different style. Not just another RTS.

I was just thinking of how much everyone bemoaned Empire, saying how the lines of musketry made it feel different from other Total War games, which were centred on melee units with ranged unit in a support role rather ranged combat than being in a primary role.

Obviously there is a lot of melee in 40K, I'm not saying there isn't

Really? The game was due out in a month or two, so was pretty close completion - how much can Ubi ruin it in the final steps?
Or am I just being naive?

Didn't mean I thought they'd ruin the game itself (altho forcing some rushed changes wouldn't surprise me), rather that I didn't have much hope initially and Ubi just further diminishes it with Uplay and their 'track record' with PC gaming.

Not the biggest South Park fan, but I like Obsidian. Since apparently their deal was another one-time funding and exclusion from reaping any profits, I may still consider getting it much later in a sale if it turns out great and Ubi 'went easy'.

Homeworld franchise sold... me thinks Sega got it since they now own Relic! :)

Stelly

I reckon EA got it. They need another franchise to utterly wreck, sorry modernise. :D

Though rather less flippantly, I do wonder what direction it will take. It would need a grand storyline just like the sublime original, as I didn't rate Homeworld 2 in that regard.
