*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Got the cancellation confirmation from ULM today and promptly went into CPW. I was hell bent on getting it Sim Free but the sales assistant pushed a good deal my way - or at least I think it is :p I would consider myself fairly strong minded and not brainwashed easily but the £27 a month on O2 and £149.99 seems *whisper it quietly* alright.

Works out at £798 over the course of the contract and with my current setup on gg (£12/mnth) I would be out £868 - assuming the phone was costing £579.99

So the assistant had an argument and I know they get crazy commission for contracts because my best friend worked for them for a while but he did have a point, or not, I don't know!

Also, in good old Northern Ireland it's pretty much a toss up between O2 and Vodafone - EE and 3 are virtually non existent (for 3g coverage anyway) so that does limit the options a bit.

Guessing I won't get my s4 from mobilephonesdirect until Monday as it is showing delivery in 4 working days.....

Hence why I am snooping around Carphone. I'd happily be out a bit more to be able to walk into the shop on Saturday morning and have my S4!

Good man (making an assumption there), hopefully everyone cancels and I'm the only one ordering with ULM. The assumption being that they get SOME stock on time and I get mine :)

Or I'm the only one waiting for ages :(

I hope you get it but I my liking for ULM was beginning to wane in the last week or so. I was becoming less and less convinced that they would deliver the goods on time (both figuratively and literally) and then their little price hike finished it off for me.

Has anyone else ordered a Samsung Galaxy S 4 through the Car Phone Warehouse and not received a confirmation email for their order yet?
I have rang them up three times now and they have confirmed the order has gone through with me, but, I am yet to receive an email conformation

Completely understandable. I've been going through the same but have sort of reached a "Why not try and save £20? Will 1-3 days difference mean all that much to me in the end?" position.

It remains to be seen how long I'll wait. Possibly until Monday afternoon for despatch as I can simply pick one up from CPW after work on Monday if it hasn't been sent by then.

Got mine ordered too, renewed contract. 300 mins, 600 sms, 2gb and spotify premium. 50 euro's per month!

Can't wait for it. Coming from an SGS2 which is quite slow now with 4.1 Jelly bean and loads of apps!

I wonder how it compared to my dads HTC One he got today ( 60 per month, but unlimited phone calls and texts, and 1gb net instead).

Are they even selling it SIM Free? They are refusing to sell the HTC One SIM Free so I wouldnt be suprised if it was the same for the S4.

They didn't say they're NOT selling it sim free although the sales guy said it will be very difficult to buy sim free as all stock priority goes to contract orders. He makes sense but a small part of me wonders if it was just sales patter to shift another contract.

My Debit card has been subjected to possible fraud (they are actually my transactions but HSBC still want to ship out a new card :@) so before HSBC cancelled the card and issued me a new one I rang up Chitter Chatter to get them to take out card payment early as it will be 5-7 working days till I get my new card. Long story short is that the lady on the phone didn't know when stock would arrive. I asked if it would be Saturday and she said it was unlikely and would probably be later. I was under the impression it would be arriving on Friday and being dispatched for Saturday delivery!!??

  • Unpleasant, cheap design
  • Sheer number of features can be overwhelming

These I can live with but 'Performance can suffer in odd places' is a little disconcerting, hopefully fixed with an update. Though the good points and bad points seem to mirror each other.
