*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Nexus - assume you went with the One in the end? Lost track.

Not going with either! :p At least not until I see motorola's phones and what KLP has to offer.

As much as I like the HTC one, there are wee things that irritate me i.e. the button and logo arrangement, design not being as good (in comparison to the S) and not having a SAMOLED screen

Happy with my S for the time being and it will be getting sense V5 around June/July probably which should give it a a new lease of life :p

If I had to choose now though, I would go for the one over the GS 4 for these reasons:

- speakers
- camera overall
- sense
- design

I haven't got anywhere to put you in my house :p

:D:o:p

I need to look at the One S again, remember it being nice but have seen very little of it in the real world. You know KLP is likely to be delayed now :(?

The GS4's primary competitors are the iPhone 5 and the HTC One, and from a pure design perspective that should make Samsung very, very nervous. Where Apple and HTC have both made beautiful, well-made, high-quality phones, the GS4 has Samsung back in the land of cheap, plasticky handsets.

don't like holding this phone, and I can't overstate how much that informs the experience of using it. It makes an awful first impression, slippery and slimy and simply unpleasant in your hand. My white review unit is completely smooth and glossy, with a subtle checkered pattern that looks textured but is neither grippy nor textured anywhere on its body. Even the silver band around the sides, which is obviously supposed to look like metal, is plastic. Everyone I showed the GS4 to frowned and wrinkled their nose as if it smelled bad, before rubbing their fingers on the back of the phone and then handing it back to me

:(

Makes you wonder why Samsung didn't negate this by going for an aggresive pricepoint instead - cheap plastic isn't a problem on a device priced at say £399.

Yup, it was the underdog of the android phones last year, awesome device all round, matched the one X and surpassed it in quite a few areas, main complaints from the reviews and users was about the storage and screen res./pentile (which was hugely blown out of proportion imo and either way was made up by having excellent calibration, good brightness [for SAMOLED] and being very good in sunlight etc.)

Unfortunately it wasn't very popular at all due to lack of advertising and other things like the storage being a killer for many people :(

Yeah read about that, but personally think it BS given the source, no actual evidence and came from a crappy blog :p :o Probably just trying to get traffic :p

Bloody chitter chatter
Just called them and they've no idea when there getting stock!!
Said it could be next week but they've no idea

to be fair thats probably down to samsung, the place I'm getting mine from doesn't seem to know when/if they're getting stock and they're a massive distributor.

Just spoke to 3 - say any very recent orders won't get it until May 3rd and previous orders still on for this Friday. DPD will give a time on Thursday night.

I have one pre ordered at EE that will be there Friday to pick up but I don't want to pay over the odds for it.

£36 plus £100 handset on 3G network when with chitter chatter £31 plus £39 handset.

I pre ordered it with them about a month ago. surely they will have stock on release day or somebody isn't doing there job right?

That tab for mutitasking app does disappear despite what that review says. The review is pretty short. I'm not sure why having extra features is a negative, especially when you can....like...not use it....!

"You will never use any of these features. Ever. Never ever. Nerver." I'm sure I will Gizmodo.

Reading the Verge review now, the sheer amount of gimmicks they've packed into it would be enough to put me off.

And that's not even all of them.

Variable reviews also, CNET and GSM arena gave more positive scores than the verge for example. Obviously the main disadvantage is the plastic but what it lacks it makes up for in everything else I feel.

Obviously you would know that that is not the first screen in the notification bar and indeed you had to press the toggle on the top right to get to it and after pulling the notification bar. Or use two finger drag of notification bar.

And you are able to customise the icons that appear on the notification bar to your preference.

There trouble is that you don't know whether the reviewer is an HTC One fan with a greasy palm. :p You do have to take a number of these reviews on board to get a clear picture.

Yup, unfortunately a lot of review sites are bias towards certain companies/devices :(

Review sites and network/phone shops should be neutral! :p

Only sites I trust are anandtech and androidcentral these days.

Androidcentral have done a decent/fair comparison:

Personally disagree with the camera app part though, from what I have seen the sense camera/zoe is more feature packed overall, not a huge difference though.
