*** The official HD 7990 review and discussion thread ***

Are you saying there are not?

I have no idea if there is or isn't, this is why I asked you to list them and maybe drivers later than said game had implemented SLI profiles or maybe it was a game I have and could test it.

I seriously don't want this turning into a fanboy thread but Kaapstad has hit on a very good point. Regardless if you agree or not, they should have had better release drivers for the release of this card or at least having CF working.

Nothing wrong with the card by the looks of it but it needs to be beating or at least matching the 690 at the price it is.

Personally i don't think the card is up to much. that has nothing to do with xFire in those games.

Its 0 improvement on what 3'rd parties had in terms of performance and efficiency.

It has a very effective cooler, thats it.

It is absolutely nothing more than 2 7970's on one PSB

@ £860, its to much money for that

The only real good thing to come from it is the xFire latency fix in the Drivers.

aha... i see, show me where.

use a few more in where SLI does not work and its back with AMD again, use more with xFire fail and its back again....... so on.

What shows up as better in SLI / xFire is entirely dependent on what games Reviewers use.

you're implying that SLI has equal and corresponding issues to crossfire, without offering any actual source, where as the person you are contradicting is just saying that these reviews don't look good showing all the crossfire issues

you are saying that reviewers have chosen to use games that have crossfire issues and not ones with SLI issues

that implies bias

otherwise, if you are not suggesting bias, you are suggesting that in having randomly chosen some popular games, they've discovered some with crossfire issues and none with SLI issues, which then implies that crossfire has more issues than SLI in common popular AAA titles

which one would you like to stick with?

Too steep, £700 max.

I see comments about it not being faster than cf 7970, Dual card is not about being faster, its about space.

LOL I can only imagine the vitriol on those 3 posts deleted looking at the authors.

Didn't post anything of the sort and i've no idea why my post was deleted. How you can be allowed to post that though is indeed interesting moderating. :D

I only said to avoid this part of the forum for a while Lol.

I'm not implying or suggesting anything, i mean exactly what i wrote.

Your reading between lines that are not there and then acting on that assumption. huge mistake, what is it they say about assumption being the mother of all?

In future don't do that and you wont get the wrong end of the stick.

If I'd said that directly during launch, you'd have lynched me :p

I said it'd be nothing but 2 7970's on a PCB and you weren't too impressed :p

But the record, I completely agree with what you've posted about the CF/SLI in terms of FPS (Assuming you meant that) as there will be games that don't scale well either side of the coin (I used a GTX680 SLI during launch and found scaling to be rather mediocre)

Both nvidia and amd says the same thing about crossfire/sli.
its a technical issue no perfect solution as far, you either implement some limitation around it as nvidia has done and what amd will do in their July drivers.
sli has the same issues as crossfire.
saying anything else just shows ignorance.

Nvidia implemented a solution already, amd will.
only main difference.

50mhz slower per gpu on the core, 100mhz in total so i guess its not that surprising that its slower in some cases than typical 7970ghz crossfire.

If you mean the 8x series, AMD recently said they wouldn't be bringing the 8x series out in 2013.

Is there anything more? i think that completes the HD 7000 line.

So it might not be until the HD 8000, with Nvidia releasing the GTX 700 from next month there is a possibly that we might see those soon or not to long after.

Yes was hoping for news on new cards like either 8 series or some more powerful 7 series. :)

I know the 7790 is out which I believe is next gen? and they have stopped production of the 7850 so surely there must be new amd cards coming soon?

The 7990 would have been a good option for me if the price was right but sadly £800 is far higher than I would ever pay for a card.

AMD had an opportunity to make something truly great, i half expected them to grab at it.
Nothing at all wrong with the 7970, or two of them on one PCB, but thats all it is, more of the same!

What a let down.

thats only the estimated launch price,i remember 7970 launch prices being very high compared to what they are now

give it a few months prices are bound to fall, esp if no one buys them
