*** The official HD 7990 review and discussion thread ***

AMD had an opportunity to make something truly great, i half expected them to grab at it.
Nothing at all wrong with the 7970, or two of them on one PCB, but thats all it is, more of the same!

What a let down.

I've never seen the hype and disappointment be quite as large as it is this generation, I guess that's with the wave of new posters who haven't yet had their optimism dashed.
:p

Most of the bulldozer hype was dead before it launched, only the brave few left banging the drum, as most had accepted it was a flop.

And I meant strictly GPU's, as there's been a few CPU hiccups on both sides to be fair.

Granted your not talking about CPU's, but i brought it up for a reason.

Bulldozer Killed all respect and hope for AMD's CPU's, it damn near kill them as a company all together.

It will take nothing less than a sledge hammer of a CPU from AMD to recover from it, that will never happen, its dead!

Why does this matter, AMD on the GPU side have the respect of even some of the most hardened Nvidia fans, even if they don't actually use them and Nvidia users out number AMD 3 to 1.
It is at least a very solid foundation to build the brand up on.

You will get this one way or another, AMD. You have a rep here who will pass this thread on as feedback, or should at least.

You have the respect and at this point it seems the momentum. solid performance at a reasonable price, better in that respect than your rival.

Do not throw the anchor over the side, make sure you do, if you can, to continue to provide better performance for less money than Nvidia.

They have a new line of GPU's coming soon, wait to see what they have and then be sure to ram the HD 8000 series down their throats.

The GTX Titan is what your aiming for. and don't leave it to long.
Don't drop the ball. ask your colleagues in the CPU office what its like to have messed it up and then lost everything as a result.

I couldn't see much difference at all. What should I be taking particular notice of?

some see it and some dont.
so called hick ups.

anyhow, http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/HD_7990/31.html
In order to overcome the frametime issues some of our colleagues reported, AMD is working on a new driver to improve things, and has provided us with it, but it's only for Windows 8 and sacrifices some performance for more constant frame delivery.

Was tempted myself and I'm team green through and through like a stick of rock, £600- £650 and I'd have cracked and brought one, maybe it would have been more appealing with a lower price and non of the games bundle that most people already have....

Missed opportunity TBH

I agree. AMD's task isn't going to be made easier as Intel seemingly have reintroduced overclocking in none K models for Haswell, if Intel launch a cheap low clocked i5 (120), it could be very dangerous to AMD's price/performance at current prices.

That price ARE THEY STUPID ??
I dont think there will be many people interested in this card atm maybe 6=8 months agao.

PPL that wanted 2x79xx got crossfire already and its better to....

I mean before the 50% speed. Am I correct though, the right side shows a smoother run? :)

Yes that's right.

The video is still at 25fps though isn't it? That's what someone said in the comments anyway, i don't know if thats correct.

I find it odd that no one playing battlefield 3 here or on oc.net notices it. It only gets picked up in these reviews. Its baffling.

I suppose it doesn't help that I don't play BF3. :D
