*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Very tempted to go for the Phones 4 U 12 month vodafone contract on Hotukdeals with the £100 quidco cashback. £533 all in including a free accesory pack and the fact you arent tied into 24 months seems like an amazing deal.

The fact that carphone warehouse have quoted me £226 for my S3 has really tempted me to upgrade!!

With the rumours that the Note 3 will be getting OLED/flexible display I've decided to wait and cancelled my S4 order.

Rollon September!!

Also better speakers :p

Brian summed it up perfectly in his GS 4 review, you go for what is more important to you as there is no clear cut "winner"

SAMOLED is always the winner. :p

I just wish more manufacturers would/could create SAMOLED equivalent AMOLED screens for their phones, I don't have a mad-on for Samsung, just their SAMOLED screens :D

Just recieved an e-mail from unlocked mobiles:

"We have just been informed by Samsung UK that the Sim Free versions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be delayed until next week.

This will impact all Sim Free retailers.

Our stock is now expected middle of next week."

Aye very good. Might take a wee trip into Glasgow City Centre and see if any of the shops can guarantee me a phone tomorrow or Saturday (unlikely I know). If so, this will be getting cancelled.

why do you need a flexible display? what are you going to do with it ? i don't really see the point behind flexible displays, that rumor trust me is BS.. metal body is one that might be true ;)

It wont shatter when dropped would be a big plus for me

Because reviews are recommending last years iPhone over this years Samsung.

Not to mention the many criticisms of the phones OS.

Some reviewers have always recommended old iPhone tec, its the same one year on year actually and they just embarrass themselves personally. Christ, the NoteII is far better then the iPhone5!

I've not dropped my S3 yet in nearly a year of owning it but accidents happen and a shattered screen is an expensive one

but its a flexible screen what is the point of that? :) like really? what are you going to flex it in front of your mates? i just don't see any use for it  if it won't shatter that means its not covered in scratch resistant coating so it'll scratch as easy as plastic/naked screen..

pointless :) can't see this tech getting to a mobile anytime soon.

What's the point is probably exactly what people said when the first colour screens turned up or when phones started to be able to do more than call and text.
The tech has got to start out somewhere.

That is why flexible screens will be useful and cool :p

+1 to that :D :p

HTC used their screen tech with the one s last year and Motorola used it with their 4 new devices but yeah there aren't enough samoled devices to choose from!

Hopefully the x phone will have a samoled screen.

colour screen is quite obvious why its useful.. but i can't see the point if flexible screen?! i really can't think of any uses.. :(

Variable reviews also, CNET and GSM arena gave more positive scores than the verge for example. Obviously the main disadvantage is the plastic but what it lacks it makes up for in everything else I feel.

Personally, I am not bothered with plastic as I always keep my phones in some kind of case. Once it is in a case, you won't be able to feel if it is metal or plastic.

What swung me towards the S4 was the replaceable battery (ie not having to take it somewhere and pay through the nose when it starts deteriorating) and the SD card, allowing me the flexibility to add more memory. These are both things that I don't like about my iPhone so why would I buy an HTC One - I may as well get an iPhone 5 !

Took, the plunge, just ordered one :D Removable SD card and battery did it for me to be honest, plus the good pre-order deal with phones 4 u/quidco. Never had a problem with the Galaxy build quality to be honest so that hasnt put me off.

tallying it all up, it shouldnt cost me much to upgrade from my S3 in total.

Is it just me or does the option to pre order the phone sim free appear to have disapeared from the Carphone Warehouse's website? The advert is still there on the homepage but when you click it, it only gives you the pay monthly options...
