*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Now that I will have a phone capable of running proper ROMs, which are the ones to look out for (based on the GS3)? Remember hearing a lot about Wolf-something and Omega?
 
I currently run Omega on my S3 and its decent. Along with Siyah kernel.
Tried most of the other ROMS and Omega appears to be one of the best.
 
My contract didnt finish until today so I had to wait until earlier on to order it through dialaphone, should be getting it early next week (if im lucky)

If your phone is from 3 direct the bootloader will be locked so no custom ROMs.

Really? I've read this in several threads over at xda with no one really arguing that wasn't correct, this was in response to me posting that I had ordered direct from 3 due to a frustrating conversation with an uninterested phone sales guy at CPW, it almost convinced me to cancel my order from 3 direct. Is it not true that 3 lock the phones down which stops root access etc pretty efficiently?

It's carp, there isn't even any branding on the 3G firmware I was able to obtain. Mind you I don't know if that's the shipping firmware. All S4's will have unlocked bootloaders but rooting will have to be done differently from previous Galaxy devices due to KNOX.

The devices might be simlocked though, which is SOP for mobile operators, but I'm sure unlocking with be easy.

Why can't you talk about it? The reps are using them, you can go into the Samsung store & play with one, reviews have been done & when I was playing with it I was never told anything about not saying anything about the device. They didn't even care when I took a picture of it or stuck a Micro SDXC card in there to check that it worked. :confused:
