basically Im just messing about a bit. Ive used true image to backup my 90gb vertex 2e sdd and ive restored it on my 64gb M4 SSD.

AS SSD says the alignment is ok but the number is odd, its 65536k. On my other ssd it was 1024k

I think it depends on the size of the drive also

scores look ok,only way is to back it up and secure erase it and align it to 4096mb restore your backup

Ive done all of that. also does it depends on partitions aswel, as the 100mb reserved has gone down to 63mb and the main one is 59.56gb

Yeah its working very well. Now getting just over 500mb/s read speeds instead of 275mb/s and its knocked off about 2secs of my boot up too.

The write speeds are totally rubbish tho, I was getting about 260mb/s, but now just over the 100mb/s. but Im going to get the samsung pro 840 120gb or the corsair neutron gtx 120gb next month.

Ive just checked the 120gb version and it isnt much quicker at all, 130mb/s write speed and here my atto benchmark for my 64gb M4 version and 90gb vertex 2e.

download atto benchmark n test it

to see what fw you have use ssdlife or look in intel rapid storage console in bottom right of taskbar

I think I was running 000f but its old now, theres newer fw,plus your best using latest motherboard bios

ahh ok,yh those are old m4 speeds, they improved them with later fw

idk if it applies to the 64gb version? but deffinatly for the 128gb and above

my 64gb has the latest fw and no diff in speed. When I get my new samsung pro or corsair neutron gtx 120gb ssd, I will prob sell the M4 aswel.

My 64gb m4, has only had 5days of usage. I bought it for laptop but it didnt really work out as the laptop didnt start to load windows for about 5secs or so, so it kind of defeats the object, plus SSD's dont like hibernate either, so couldnt even use that. So its just been in my box of goodies collecting dust for the last 6months or so.

use it as a caching drive for your hdd

just do the reg tweak to let you install the raid drivers(actually gigabyte has its own software to enable caching without reinstalling)

itll be a lot quicker than just your hdd

Ive heard about this from a few ppl but I never really found out anything about it, and my motherboard supports this or something like it.

So its worth doing is it, to help my games hdd, as Im going to buy a faster hdd for my games anyway?

Will deffo look into this when I have got my new ssd,, Im guessing you can tell it what drive you want it to cache, as I wont need my boot drive caching, just my games/storage hdd?

Im guessing it works like superfetch in win7, the most used apps or in my case games will get dumped onto the ssd?

yh,i think the os has to be on the hdd,idk if its possible with it on a separate ssd ive never tried it

but for a single 60gb max ssd and any size hdd with the os on it it works fine
