BMW and M Power Owners

If it was a company car changing from a 535 to a 328 would probably save him a good 130-170 a month in lease/tax payments...

Anyone got a definitive guide to fitting the 18 button OBC to a E36 328i? I'm sat with a mate trying to do the swap and the instructions he has are awful.

Got both connectors with tails? Car got Check control already?

If so, you don;t really need a guide. All you need to do is swap the power wires from the one connector to the other, then match up the colours of the wires to the ones going to the clocks and join them up.

The rest will be for the stalk, gong, temp sensor, EWS and climate. I only bothered with the temp sensor, the other features are of little to no value. I will wire in the gong and climate when I get around to it though.

This will help.

If you don't have an OBC, or have one without CCM, you're gonna have a bad time.

Cheers Clarkey. I think we did the wiring correctly but couldn't get the new OBC to work.

I think the mis information we had to begin with didn't help. I've suggested to my mate we both try to understand exactly whats involved then have another go at it.

What's the consensus on updating nav maps with DVD's? I'm off to France next month and last time I went the maps were out of date on a few roads, they seem to like building roads and roundabouts in France.

Think mine is 3 yrs old

Any of you guys know the best deal to buy BMW wheels/alloys? I bought my X3 with 304's, with the plan of keeping them for winter tired, and buy another flashier set for summer... I'm looking for 307 or 308's styke wheels..

Back in the E60 I did it every time a new map was released, and a couple of times in-between I'd add in the latest speed cameras too :).

From what I remember, BMW (Navteq) want a fair few quid for the discs. There's lots of websites selling pirate copies around, but if you want to pirate it you might as-well just download it yourself from your favourite shady download site rather than paying someone to burn it on a DVD for you!

I got my upgraded and repaired BM54 amp module from my E46 back today, the difference is astounding! The added power really makes the system sound a million times better than it did previously.

I've also had it modified with Dynamic TMS firmware and a set of RCA's so I can run an amp/sub directly from it without having to tap into speaker wires and using a high low converter.

Well impressed.

Got info on this? interested

Hi mate,

I sure do, I basically used Baris (who gets highly rated on various forums like Cutters) to do the work, his eBay auction link is here:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Becker-BM...2?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item19db944efc

In a nutshell, if you've got the BM54/BM24 module, he'll upgrade the amps from 15w to about 50w per channel, he can add RCA outputs directly to it, he can also add Aux/BT audio streaming.

The firmware upgrade he offers gives you text support if you're lucky enough to have an MP3 changer, and mainly the dynamic TMS system which announces traffic info all the time rather than only when you've got a route coded into the nav.

I couldn't be happier with it :)

Im thinking of getting the AMP upgrade as well, just not 100% sure if Im gonna keep the car for much longer :) Did you upgrade the speakers as well Atari?

I've upgraded the rear speakers with some 6.5" ones, the amp upgrade is definitely worthwhile, the front speakers are standard BMW ones (non HK etc) and they certainly sound a lot meatier than they did pre-upgrade :) Bass response is far improved and they don't distort now at higher volumes like they did before.

Just bought a 2001 E46 330D Auto touring with 99k on the clock

was looking into the bmw driveline warranty due to the auto box and the turbo

apart from taking out the policy online how does it work? will bmw want to inspect the car as it is now?

Picked the Z4 up today. Will post pictures tomorrow when I get a chance. Loving it so far; although the standard BMW stereo is absolute crap. Definitely going to upgrade the speakers at a minimum.
