NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 to Cost as Much as GTX Titan.

That maybe the recommended price - then you have to add the extra's

Indeed, for some reason computer related retailers get away with charging way over the RRP of products when they either become low on stock or demand.

Yeah the business side of it is 'why not charge more for a product that's in demand' ignoring the damage it causes from a customer relations point of view (Amazon do it as well as OCUK).

So if the 780 has a paper launch we are all doomed from the start unless competitors actually don't price fix the market or its a lovely hard launch with lots of supply. But the price will still go up throughout the launch day as stock level reduce with the impression given that you will never be able to get one ever again.

Either manufactures need to come down hard on sellers who are not sticking to the RRP or the public need be less dumb with their cash - both options will likely never happen.

In my first post I wasn't really talking to you, I was asking Suarez how did he know they sold well. You replyed to that post so I replyed to you. If it dosn't matter to you why answer in the first place? It doesn't matter to me really, I was just curious to know how Suarez7 arrived at the conclusion that they are selling well. And am just curious to know how many they sold.

Your logic makes no sense either, in fact your logic is totally flawed. They are in stock everywhere I look. OCUk staff and Hardware review sites like Hardocp have said that there would be very small numbers of these available. The fact that one of the biggest online retailers in America still has them limited to 1 per person suggests that the numbers of Titans available is still very, very small, yet they are still in stock everywhere. You say the price has been set because of demand? There isnt any evidence of that.

I was using my logic of shortages being the reasoning behind the massive price rise over the RRP but I am no business man and was purely speculating.

I did also say that the launch cards all sold and my evidence of this was trying to buy two when my pre launch order was missed and everywhere I looked had sold out. I tried to buy two from everywhere and couldn't and I watched the price rise from £820 to crazy amounts with no stock anywhere. Also the Titan thread on OCN.net had people asking where they could buy a Titan as where ever they looked, they were out of stock.

I am talking launch time and a couple of weeks after though. Maybe Gibbo can let us know if they are selling or flopping?

With regards to the 780 in particular, would it be advised to purchase it as soon as it launches as I noticed that the Titan price (here on OcUK) increased by around £200 after launch until now? Is it likely that the same will happen with the 780, or not because it probably won't be a limited edition card?

It doesn't make sense for Nvidia to sell a card that is basically slightly nerfed titan, but for only half the price. So I'm guessing the OP is probably fairly close to the truth. I'm thinking £600+ and for it to be a continuing trend. If they sell decently then AMD will rock up with its 8k series later in the year and performance permitting charge similar money.

At £500-£600, it's overpriced no doubt, but it's the now the undisputed top end card. That price tag does not put it into the freak category.

I'd imagine AMD's new tech will beat it, or equal it at least for less moolah with their new range reported due late this year. Hopefully the 780 release will encourage AMD to get a wriggle on.

Now hoping for some nice price cuts on AMD cards.
