??? I repair stuff like that every week at college.

That's probably about £1k work tops if you use a 2nd hand rear door.

£1.5k if you decide to use an aftermarket rear panel as well, but you can easy beat Imp panels out from the rear.

If you used all new Subaru parts yeah it'd be expensive but it's an old Subaru so I wouldn't bother.

I have a feeling it was racially provoked, I reckon they realised I was Indian because my surname is on the numberplate and the perps were of Pakistani/Bengali origin.

I really doubt it was because your Indian (that wouldn't even be racial), Tower Hamlets has it's fair share of Indians who go by their daily lifes fine, cars being trashed is quite common, not just because of vandalism.

Wasn't surprised to read it's in Poplar. It's the scummiest area in Tower Hamlets, it's a really mixed area of mainly Bangladeshi's, White and Black people. Lot's of gang and drug related issues down there, I wouldn't put it pass the reasoning being pure envy and jealousy, a nice shiny Subaru parked up in a ****hole area is asking for it unfortunately.

Hope you get it sorted, and next time you park up in that area, park it somewhere more safe.
 
Don't think it's worth going through insurance. The rear can be panel beaten, worst case scenario is two second hand doors for £100 and also set of rear lights £100, spraying will be free.

The excess is £250 anyway which is more than the cost of doors and lights.
 
Stuff like this is sickening. The crime itself isn't that bad, but the mindset of a person who would do something like this with no provocation is what gets me. To me it is akin attacking a person, by hurting that person's helpless child. Utterly horrific and cowardly behavior.

Hope you get it fixed with minimal fuss and the scum who did it, feel the full force of the law (even if it is probably not at all sufficient).
 
I know this will sound racist, but as I'm of the brown minority I feel I can comment; this is typical of younger generation pakistani/muslim groups within north London have a problem with Indians (Sikhs and Hindus).

I'm talking about if it goes through insurance, where secondhand parts don't get used and parts and labour prices are always inflated. Obviously it's not going to be a write off if you don't involve the insurance.

You can use 2nd hand parts for insurance claims - I do repairs like that all the time and did it when my Scorpio needed a new rear wing and rear bumper and we couldn't get a new rear bumper. The insurance companies usually just reduce the warranty period to something like 3 months in that instance.

As for parts and labour inflation - just insist on using your own garage.

To me it looks like they've probably either mistaken your car for some other or you've done something innocent to one of the attacker on the road to which they took offence?

My Evo got dented and a huge scratch down it last month, this happened in my works secure car park so it must have been someone who works there. Nothing shown on CCTV though as they suck in the car park. Had the dent pulled but need a spray job on the 2 doors.
 
Well i've put up a reward of £1,000 for anyone who has information which leads to the arrest of the guys, every shop in the area is going to get one.

I like your style but I'd then be rather annoyed when they get off with being fined £250 and 20 hours community service.
