On another note im after some advice.

I snapped the rear seat stay on my Trek Fuel EX on a tiny drop off, Evans (got it on sale cheap) were difficult but i am expecting a replacement frame under warranty.

120mm travel is a little short so i was thinking of getting something else maybe around the 140-150mm.

Just because you snapped a frame doesn't mean you need a bike with more travel. It could have just been bad luck. **** happens. If you were regularly breaking stuff then maybe a burlier bike is what you need.

As above. The Alpine is probably too much bike. But it depends what you ride and how you ride it. Another option to consider is the Blur TR (alu).

It's not bad. I'm heading up friday late afternoon if you want.

It's fairly straight forward, new section at the start has a couple of lines, down into the woods is some rocky sections but straighforward. Then out towards the dual slalom section. Again whichever line you pick, everything is rollable with no great drops.

A bit of a slog/climb then from the bottom of this back up the hill which is fairly short but quite tough (for me anyway). Then back up into the woods along a bit call "broken biscuits" which is basically about 800m of rock/bumpy stuff, down into the trees again which is fairly straightforward, but a bugger of a small climb out of the trees. A real sharp sudden climb that most people fall to get up.

Then it's a climb back to the start again, nothing major but just one where you need to find a rhythm and your fine. Top guys are down around 20 mins for a lap already, at a steady pace it's about 30/35 mins.

You could turn up and do it - it's not that hard, red graded at most, distance wise blue graded. I was considering my 1st ever entry but with 2 weeks to POC Enduro at Glentress, decided to give it a miss this year.

Thanks for that. doesnt sound too bad, I think i'll just drive down on the sunday morning. I'm driving down from Inverness so i dont really want to go on saturday and stay in a hotel.

Devinci has a lifetime warranty on those Dixons, you;re got nothing to worry about there.
Sold one just the other day and I must admit, I'm very tempted by one.

Anyone looking for a place to stay in morzine? We have 2 places free in our chalet due to dropouts. Dates are the 20th July to the 3rd August.

In other news. Jonny slowed me down at glentress on Sunday.

Guys,

Anyone know where to get a Triban 3 in 57cm frame apart from Decathlon? Reading had 4 in stock last week and now none :/

Anything else as good? Probably not of course  :(

I would love to join but I don't quite think my fitness is up there at the moment.

Diablo was just the name when it was being run by a 3rd party, renting the mountain during the summer. He was doing it badly and the mountain decided to do it themselves.

Much better facilities and unlike the previous regime they do lots of trailwork.

The riding you have around you is no fair :(

Got any helmet cams of your runs this weekend, would love to see it.

need Vs want i know

maybe i dont need a bigger bike but i would like one.

After breaking this bike i wont have the confidence to do something similar on it again. I feel im getting better and able to attack trickier sections compared to how i was 6 months ago and i would love to do some more downhill style stuff i see on all these videos you guys post.

Has anyone got any opinions on the Canyon Strive AL i did say i wanted to build a bike but there pricing seems very good. I would just put my rims and breaks on it if i were to get one.

Well, then the bonus with France is that you can ride a section of an xc route, then you'll find a chairlift to take you higher when you get tired. Then it's all downhill from there :P

Call it lazy if you must.

I don't own a downhill bike, my bike does everything I make it though.

Guys, going to replace my rear cassette, what do I go with? So many options!

Bike is a pitch pro and 3x9 if that makes a difference.

Just noticed its a Shimano Deore HG50 9 Speed Cassette, that is currently on it. I assume an 'upgrade' isn't really worth the bother especially as it's only £15!

I cant tell any difference in shifting between a cheap cassette and an expensive one. Cheaper ones will usually be a bit heavier tho.
Remember to get a new chain as well.
