Posted another thread asking for SSD recommendations, and as a result I've order the Samsung 840 Pro 256GB. But only just thought about it, that my motherboard is a bit outdated (EX58-UD5 Rev 1.0) and that it looks like the SSD is not SATA II compatible? Am I gonna have to buy a new motherboard? Any cheap recommendations? Currently got an i7 920.

It will work fine, don't worry about it :)

The performance may be slightly reduced as a result of using SATA II however, but not enough to warrant changing the motherboard in my personal opinion.

Slight reduction in performance (if I'll even notice) is fine for me temporarily, as long as it is backwards compatible then I'm happy.

I wouldn't bother buying an add in card either, they are poor in comparison to proper intel controlled sata3

just stick it out till you upgrade your board/cpu,you could have saved yourself a few ££ by going for the non pro 250gb but nevermind
