Blizzard: 'Titan'

I dream for the day I can fly a full sim aircraft like DCS while other people on the ground are having FPS battles like arma/ps mix, tanks like steel beasts, player AND ai commanders have a top down view with intel from players, assigning orders to online clans/communities/pubbie groups.

Dont know if you ever played, but this was what WWIIOL was aiming for and for a while it got there. I used to love taking my Hurri up and CAS bombing a supply tent whilst straffing incoming Opels trying to set up spawn points. The air game was about as realistic as ive come across in an MMO, the icons were there but you had a real advantage if you could spot an enemy before the icon popped up. All the dynamics of a proper flight sim were there, with energy management, realistic ammo and damage models where you really had to aim for wing roots. The same for armour and you had the situation that armour would actually sit off and duel.

But I think it suffered from being ahead of its time. The infantry game was/is awful, it seems to be built for baud modems and certain accomodations had to be made for the limited playerbase. Bombing factories had to be made harder because of the lack of CAP and bomb penetration on tanks effectively nullified because the fighter bombers were laying waste to tank columns - which they could easily identify because of the rudimentary graphics.

It was (and maybe still is, havent played in a while) one hell of a game for a wwii grognard.

Yeah I tried WWIIOL back at the start but it just, like you said aimed way to far ahead of it's time and, it didn't capture me.

I still dream about vanilla WoW... so knowing that a few members of that team are working on this project is nothing but good news.

That won't ever exist anymore though as too many things have changed since then. Activision owning blizzard being the main point there which is bound to have an effect. The game will undoubtedly be full of random garbage you can buy at launch -.-

Your more likely to get a D3/current WoW experiance with Titan than any iteration of Blizzard games from the past. That's quite worrying imo.

And how will buying vanity ****e take away from being an awesome game?

The RMAH in D3 was a huge factor in preventing it from being an enjoyable experiance. Not quite vanity gear, but it shows how having your game centered around buying items to progress can **** a game up badly.

yea which is why every mmo since the wow train has been ****

Because every MMO since has wanted to be 'The next WoW' or has capitulated and ended up being far too similar in scope, playstyle, in game mechanics and general 'feel'. It's about time that developers and publishers finally work out that any MMO will never be the next WoW and stop cloning it to death with a simple re-skin.

If any of you Titan followers remember, there was once rumours that Blizzard and Bungie where working together to make Titan, but it turns out Bungie is making Destiny.

Could it be possible that Bungie are working on the console version of Titan and there codename is Destiny?

Destiny as i understand it is meant to be a Sci Fi MMO FPS but for consoles? If thats the case, then Titan is rumoured to be a Sci Fi MMO FPS.

Blizzard have shown they can port over PC games to consoles with D3.

So who knows, just a theory.

Also i'm hoping we get more information about Titan at Blizzcon this year.

So what does "Long-Term" mean? The "New Unannounced MMO" has been part of their "Long-term" plan for 5 years.

I think it will be 4+ years before this is released. Hopefully I'm way off. :)

Well this is Blizzard so 4 years away would be acceptable. We've seen nothing yet and screenshots of D3 were probably released around that long before its release, and that wasn't a new IP and not an MMO, so this will probably get even longer hype.

I think theres a good chance we could get some info on it at this years Blizzcon. I already have the time booked off work so I can watch the live stream :)

I also wonder if we'll finally get some info on the long awaited Warcraft movie, though I wont hold my breath for it.

i highly doubt ya'll see it at blizzcon.

WoW is due another Expansion as is D3, they'll keep Titan under wraps til WoW really starts losing players, they aren't that stupid ;)
