Audi owners in here!

Yes definitely sounds like the engine fell off.
This actually is pretty close to what happened by the looks of it.

Had the RAC guy out. He said the whole engine has dropped, smashed into the mount, damaged the cambelt and likely smashed loads of other parts as well due to the fact it would have just seized up while going motorway speeds. He said it probably needs a completely rebuild, but it's going to have to be stripped down anyway just see exactly what has been damaged. I recently had the cambelt changed and he said I need to bring this up with the garage because it COULD be caused by not being put back together properly after having it done.

It was done at an official audi garage, so i am waiting for the truck to come and pick me up and take me there now as i've booked it in with them again to investigate.

I'm furious and extremely worried about how much this is going to cost:mad::mad::mad:

Oh man! Sounds like it wasn't put back together properly, probably not tightened engine mount. I'd be marching round to Audi making them sort it for you. Good luck though, that's gutting!

Did you get that done at an Audi dealer ? You need to remove the engine mount to change the cam belt on the TFSI, part of the dealer instructions advise they should replace the bolts on the mount with new ones. This is often overlooked by non VAG garages and some dealers, it can cause the mount to fail if the old bolts work loose.

EDIT Just saw it was done at an Audi dealer ask them to produce the instructions and then show you the replacement bolts on the invoice.

This post might just save your arse!

hey everyone :D looking to be popping my audi cherry soon ;) just hoping I could get a few tips and pointers when going out to look with potential to buy at cars and if there's are sure signs of a "no go".

I'm looking to buy myself an Audi A4 2.0 TFSI Quattro, 4 door saloon, 54(B7model pref) plate or newer.

why a4? my father had an a4 avant as a company car which I got to drive years ago and I instantly fell in love!!!! just had that "YES" feeling when sat at the wheel :) since then I have been addicted to the A4.... maybe a little obsessive. I've been looking for about 2 years now keeping an eye on various car sites :)

going for petrol over diesel as I only do about 7-10k miles per year so have been advised it's not worth the diesel over the petrol (possible repairs and running costs). why that engine config? seems like fun, so why not!!! I love all things technical, so half of the appeal is the experience of driving with the technology and feeling it :)

saloon? I like the idea of the extra space in the avant but I'm not all too fussed on how it looks compared to the saloon. I like having the option to be able to transport bigger things.... and the boot on the audi is pretty huge (any thing massive we can use the kia...lol) also I would prefer if the rear seats were 60/40 split.... just for that extra space option :)

54 plate? well i've seen a personalised plate that i might be getting as a gift and one of the requirements is rage has to be registered on 54 or sooner :) (anyone buys my plate so help me god!!!!)

As previously stated I might be border line obsessed xD I've had my heart set on this for quite some time, there have been other tempting cars but I know what I'm like... and if I didn't get this then I know I would regret it :( I've already been looking at possible retrofits, all the different mods and things people have done and am overly impressed!!! to be honest the only mod I can see myself doing shortly after getting the car would be to add an AUX in line to the headunit (which looks easy as pie with the symphony2+ ..and that model plays mp3 cds :D ) maybe further down the line I might do some other mods as I have a few friends in the car scene (stancing and all that, closest i think i would get is slightly lowered on springs xD )

So as far as model suggestions go I am pretty narrow minded as I know what I have my mind set on xD but what I would greatly appreciate (and what I would hope you would want to give) any advice which will help me through my looking/purchasing process to ensure I get the best for my money and don't get conned out of my cash and end up with a money sink, and my dreams being burst :(

so what do i need to look out for? what are trouble signs? any mileage ranges I should avoid unless specific work is done? audi extended warranty? 3rd party maybe? all sellers ok? or stick to garages only? approved audi benefits over extra cost?

sorry for the wall of text but It is something I am passionate about :)

TL : DR - buying advice/tips for a stubborn minded noob buyer after an a4 2.0tfsi quattro newer than 54 plate(B7 pref) .

Update about my car:

Audi said it hasn't dropped off the mount, but the cam belt has failed, which damaged the water pump and bent some valves. As i had the cambelt changed less than a year ago this is all covered under audi parts warranty, so that's a massive relief! Also they have givren me a lovely courtesy car...a brand spanking new TT 2.0T S Line Black Edition! It's pretty damn nice, and i now want to upgrade my A3 lol...

It is SE Technik spec, yes.
Para - I'm looking to get an SE Technik Avant with the 163 TDI engine as a company car. How has yours been over the last months?

Any options that are must haves?
Is there any standard Bluetooth phone connections or do I need to spec the Low Bluetooth option?

With the SE Technik, you get all the required "techy" kit as standard (HDD based nav, bluetooth low, AMI, speech recognition). Just spec Xenons, it's all I really want from mine.

All the "high" bluetooth gets you is the ability to use rSAP profile, and/or use a SIM in the MMI unit for google earth connectivity.

As I've hinted at above though, you really don't need to spec it ;)

To run mines been superb, and so far I'm averaging 51.3MPG.

Much nicer interior this time too, rather than the dull black on black with black bits.

What colour are those seats, there is no white option:confused:

They are not white seats so the lack of a white option would seem irrelevent. It's Titanium Grey I'd imagine.

They grey ones looked a lot darker in the model builder on the Audi site.
