Will check that thanks.

Loving the car so far though, engine is very impressive, can slip it into 5th at 30mph easily and it pulls well throughout the rev range on a more "spirited" drive. MPG isn't the best though, can just about make 30mpg on my 13 mile commute with a very light right foot and 50mpg cruise on the motorway stretch, average 20mpg on the way back due to more stop start with the traffic.

30mpg on a 13 mile stretch? no you didn't, or you reset the trip whilst up to speed which completely defeats the point.

You may as well give Royal Steering Wheels a call and arrange that wheel to be chunkied up a bit! nothing worse than a thin steering wheel. It won't cost the Earth either, £105 for a re-trim.

Good god no, that's a good standard steering wheel. Thin enough except for the thumb rest and controls, makes the handling and car feel better for me.

Reset taking out of the garage, 1.0 mile run to the motorway through a 30 zone then cruise control 40-60 for the motorway stretch before the last 1 mile through town.

Coming back the traffic is slightly worse and a different route resulting in 20mpg so an average of 25mpg on the commute. Yesterday taking it less easy I managed 19mpg on the round trip.

Above is the reading from a roughly 10 mile drive, from putting petrol in, motorway driving and town driving, with as light a right foot as possible. The 2nd consumption figure is the overall average since picking the car up Sunday.

Royal use manufacturer quality leather anyway so I fail to see the problem here? As long as you don't choose something soft wearing like nappa leather for the retrim then it will last as long as a factory stitched wheel does.

The SE wheel is too thin and lack of thumb rest is a bit awkward especially when navigating twisty roads. Chunkier wheels = More grip and perforated grips add more grip to that :)

Come on Fox, for £3k this would have been your choice surely?

No, not at all, sorry :(

It's an SE with random aftermarket sideskirts, a facelift bumper, blacked out headlights and a bizarre white spray job.

I really think with a bit more patience you could have done much better. If you are happy with it, great - but unfortunately it sets all my alarm bells off. I'd be particularly nervous of the reason behind the spray job. You'd need to really, really, really want it white to spend the money doing it to that car. Unless it already needed to a respray...

A standard, cherished example, yes. That, no.

I could even forgive it being an SE if it only had a sport steering wheel, and the rest of the car was returned to stock. But there is just so much wrong with that car, the skirts, the wheels, the colour...

Not a fan to be honest. Can't see why anyone would drop at least £1-2k on a white paint job, retrofit xenons, lower it and countless other things, all to an SE model :|

If you're happy with it then that's all that matters. They're fun cars if looked after, expensive if not :)

Yep she really, really wanted it white and spent a fortune getting it done properly - as she has done with her replacement car since (she really likes black/white - the living room showed this!) She was really into her cars and from their house, could tell they had a lot of money. She had this for 7 years but an accident damaging her knee unfortunately meant she can only drive automatics now hence the very reluctant sale. As you probably know my father runs a body shop and it's all obviously been checked over and tbh the spray job is one of the best we have seen, very impressive. The car was on ebay and attracted a lot of bidders, fortunately I went up with cash and bought it for a fair amount before the final bid value (obviously I ensured I was highest bidder and we mutually agreed to cancel ebay auction afterwards making it above board- cash always talks :D)

Fox, any advice on what you would change? I know it's really not something you would have gone for but opinion is welcome. I feel I got a good buy if not from the price the others were willing to bid on a no reserve auction alone?

I thinK i'd probably get the wheels sprayed back into silver and the front/rear bumpers replaced with Sport ones, with those sideskirts replaced with Sport ones. Then the headlights for standard OEM ones.

Bingo - one white 330Ci Sport looking cab. It'd be a lot nicer looking then, IMHO.

The current front bumpers than are of SE variety? (my knowledge of BMW's is very limited as you can see). If I can pick them up at a good price then I will do this as fitting and spraying will just be a matter of time rather than money.

The side skirts due to the way they have been (professionally) done will require a slightly bigger job to change over but no problem to do over time.

Once changed to sport front/ and rear bumpers and side skirts and existing sport suspension, apart from steering wheel, door sill trims, what other differences are there?

Seats are different on sport models, they're a bit more comfortable and the front bit (where your knees are) can be extended to make them even more comfy.

Got ya, remember this from the 54' sport convertible above sold that I had.

Love white cars which is why this one stood out to me and at £3k was a bargain. Although I could make £500 min and sell on fairly quickly I think I'm going to keep her and make a few changes, although the negative response thus far is giving me doubts? If I sell up and go for a sport, convertible, manual, 3.0, sat nav, fsh, speakers etc then it could be a long wait and a price tag a lot higher than £3k I imagine?

At the end of the day, if you're happy with it, keep it :) Doesn't matter where you post pics of it, there'll always be people who don't quite agree with your styling tastes.

They're great cars though, at this mileage you may need to look at refreshing some suspension components, and if it's not already been tackled, you will need to start replacing the cooling system, but otherwise shouldn't throw up huge bills...just lots of little ones lol.
