Audi owners in here!

Am interested in real MPG figures, picking it up tomorrow, seems owners have reported anywhere from 44 mpg to 58 mpg - shocked at the big difference.
It totally depends how you drive.
- Do a long motorway trip drafting a lorry and you'll get 65mpg+
- Drive with your foot flat to the floor or stop start through heavy traffic and you'll be high 20's / low 30's.

Hence the large range when you ask people what MPG they get - Real world use is different for everyone.

You'll just have to get an A7 then. Plenty of room in that. :p
That would be nice but it's not on my company car list, and even if it was, it would be too expensive.

Just bought an 59 plate A4 TDIE 136, anyone else have one of these? Any thoughts good or bad?

Is a 59 plate pre start-stop?

My 2013 136PS TDIe has (so far) averaged 51.3MPG over it's lifetime.

My driving is mainly a split of 35% urban and 65% rural (A and B roads, 40-60MPH), with almost no motorway.

The 1.6 doesn't seem to have that great economy looking at some reports online.

my dad has the 1.6 TDI A3 convertible and I swear he's only filled up the tank once! :p then again he is a very non-aggressive driver, just the usual 30 min plod on country roads to town and then back usually. from years of driving an a4 1.9tdi estate for work all over the UK and europe he's gotten good skills at making the engine run on nothing but the fumes xD shall ask what mpg he gets from it tonight :)

EDIT:
just got the text back off my dad, gets 45-50mpg on the country roads/getting into town and 55-60+ on longer runs :)

The same as I get from my petrol 1 Series then.

Do you really get 60mpg on a long run?

I am lucky to get about 37mpg on a short run, and 42mpg on a motorway run. Only seen 49mpg once on a 20 minute stretch of 50mph (specs cameras...) on the M62 motorway, in good conditions.

And thats on a 1.4! :o

*(according to the trip computer)*

Anyone buying the 1.6tdi for personal use needs their head checked. Horrinble engine.

Company car where there is little choice and it's all about the least money coming out of your salary, fair enough but actually thinking about buying one yourself is crazy imo.

This from a trip last week. The MPG and average speed was slightly higher but dropped as I got stuck in traffic for 5 mins on the road into Sainsburys Leamington (roadworks).

61.2 MPG : Petrol 1.6 Turbo (170bhp)

It has start stop fitted to it, yes. Is it worth using as I think it can be turned on and off.

My drive to work is 30% motorway rest is split between country roads and town driving. As long as it does more than my pug at 40mpg that's fine.

Start stop makes a marked improvement to MPG with my usage, so I leave it on.

what's wrong with it xD ? seems to serve my dad just fine :p but i want to be enlightened :D

I tend to leave mine on but it frustrates me in city driving/stop start traffic so I turn it off. Haven't figured out if you can set it to be off all the time without having to press the button each time you get in the car. :o

I spent some time this morning at Audi and BMW working out which model I prefer.

A5 Sportback
This is the best looking car of the three but due to the sloping rear hatch it lacks the boot space I need and rear headroom for adults is restricted.

A4 Avant
The Avant improves the rear space and headroom over the A5 and is currently my 2nd choice.
The only drawback of this car is the engine I need doesn't allow me to spec Adaptive Cruise

BMW 3 Touring
As this is the newer car in this group you can easily see the step-up in quality, equipment, space and design.
The boot is automatic with a split rear window for easy loading space and it is larger & deeper with extra storage under the floor. The rear seats also have a 40/40/20 split which would be very useful.
Inside there is more front and rear legroom, the design is more modern and the quality is better.

So the BMW Touring will cost me £100 a month more than the Audi's but it's definitely money well spent.

The 3 Series GT doesn't hit dealers until June 12th so I'll be waiting to see the prices of those before I go for the 320D M Sport Touring.

This makes me really worry for Audi. I had a 2012 320d the other week and was really looking forward to it - my first F30 experience. Asthetically, the interior was fantastic. The tech is great too. But a step-up in quality? It was very very dissapointed here - everything was cheap to touch, buttons in the dash creaked, I'm not even sure it was built like an E90 which was hardly a byword for quality in itself.

If it really is a step up in quality from an A4 then are Audi outsourcing interior materials quality to Vauxhall or something?!

I disliked the F30 interior, it was one of the main reasons I went for the A4 instead.

SDK how accurate is your computer? Do you check your MPG manually also?

They are impressive figures either way.

I've calibrated the onboard computer to match the actual consumption. It was pretty close from the factory, (within +/-10 miles on a 50 litre tank) so it just needed tweaking.

I've just looked at the pic again.
Only over 59 miles.
Your point being what?

His point is probably that your lifetime average is somewhat less impressive, I'd imagine. On certain journey types I can get 40mpg from my 530i but despite this the lifetime calculated average (Well, since 2010) is 27mpg.

Which I don't think makes the impressive figures any less relevent, though. It's good to know that if you wish to do a long journey for example, you can do it on an impressively frugal amount of fuel.
