*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Hard to say if it will help or not, personally I don't think it will :(

I still have a funny feeling that Samsung may be a bit slower this time round though due to the amount of devices they have and how much they have got going on with touchwiz now.

This is where rooting + romming pays off

pfffffffft!

:p

So damn annoying this update area with android, how long since 4.2/4.2.2 was announced/released and how many devices have the update (that weren't released with it)........... and is it a big update that brings so much new stuff and requires a ton of work............. :o

Totally agree:) It's a good deal, not saying it's bad at all, but just not as good as people are making out. It is better than other handset-only prices, that's for sure. But i said this when i preordered mine - the handset prices look very expensive next to the contract deals away.

Agreed, with the ubiquitous £12.90 3 sim it works out a couple/ few quid, depending on cb, more than internet 500 phone contract from cpw with cb, which sort of indicates the fair sim only price is £420/30, especially as that's the price Google are charging for the nexusS4.

stoosh - you can get rid of your Nexus 4 now too :D

Haha...I really don't know what to say Mate.

This is my thoughts on the Google edition:

It's superb that you can enjoy pure Android on the GS4 and it's going to be highly desirable as you can install the likes of PA and other ROMS on the phone.

The bonus being that Touchwiz and it's bloat features are banished forever.

HOWEVER, what's stopping those who already own the GS4 and installing ASOP on their phones? Or if you're into the whole rooting, ROM scene which is extremely easy on Samsung devices to install a ROM like Pandoriam or Ripper and keep the best of both worlds, ie all the Samsung extras like Smart stay etc and a smooth running ROM? Keeping the ASOP look with Vertimus JB theme.

Secondly I'd like to know if this developer edition GS4 version will have the camera extras that Samsung have implemented on Touchwiz? I'm saying this because the Pure Android camera experience is rather poor IMO.

Still it's a ballsy move upon Google and Samsung's behalf and none of us saw this coming. My N4 suddenly might just have to go now.

And possibly the GS4 that's being delivered tomorrow. I've got lots of thinking to do now.

HTC will be extremely unhappy with these turn of events!

X phone anyone? ;)

I very much doubt you will see any of the touchwiz stuff on the GS 4 nexus stoosh.

Perhaps developers could do something about combining them, however, I doubt that will happen either i.e. with the nexus one and desire, galaxy s 1 and nexus s, you couldn't do that, either had to use stock android or a proper sense/touchwiz rom

@stoosh - I meant we get a bug free AOSP for the S4.

So if we want to try all the new features of 4.3, we just do a Nandroid, try it out and keep it for a while till TW catches up.

All round good news for the STANDARD S4.

Has the S4 just become the Android champion for this year then considering the S4 hardware on a Nexus phone is pretty damn awesome.

HTC won't be happy.

The GS 4 nexus.... possibly :p

As much as I like stock android (only reason is really the stock android theme), I just hope the camera quality is actually good though because all nexus phones have sucked when it came to the software/driver camera optimisation in that area, it is the main reason why the N4 isn't as good as the other phones.

Personally the HTC one still wins me over the GS 4 nexus by quite a bit.

Cool. Thanks for your help. Bloody hell my CC month starts tomorrow and I already have a 64GB microSD card, wireless router, Speigen case and possibly these two items on my purchase list......:(
