Google I/O 2013

Missed the keynote, but watched a few videos and read a few articles about it.

Hangout actually looks pretty good, better than the Facebook messenger mess. I usually use FB messenger to contact people since it's cross-platform but it's annoying that the notification always stay on my Android devices, even if I'm actively typing on the PC. Now if I can somehow get people to use Hangouts it hopefully should be better :p.

Finally they're updating maps to match the iOS version :p.

And S4 with stock Android  Stock Android lovers will love that... and I'm one of them but I don't own the S4 :(.

And got the new Google Play music app, what have they done to the interface? Why did they make it "card" style like the Play store, Google+ and Google Now? Also I like it opening always to Albums, but now I have to click the Music icon, click My Library then swipe to Albums . Also noticed when I'm playing music, the previous/play/etc buttons are quite blurry on my HTC One, but fine on the Nexus 10. And when I first loaded the app, the splash screen somehow reminded me of a Windows app... hmm ;)...

EDIT: And... scrolling too fast in the album section causes the album art to go like this:

Which can only be fixed with more crazy scrolling... Yeah, I'm going to uninstall this update and stick with the old style. Maybe I should really hunt down an alternative that can connect to Google music...

I'm a fan of the whole message-over-data concept but it's so fragmented right now.

I think I use SMS, Whatsapp, Viber, Facebook and Gtalk (now Hangouts) at the moment and there's not much overlap between them in terms of what people actually use and will respond on :p :/

Oh for an app to unify them all :p

Apple's peak is now I think. For the first time I have noticed people are genuinely switching away from the iphone.

ios 7 will really have to be good to prevent a slide.

I agree - Apple has been slipping in terms of innovation while other companies such as Google continue to progress. I've had an iPhone every year since the 3GS, but I think if Apple let us down this year, it'll turn a lot of people to make the switch...

Wut when did Google Books start supporting uploads (PDF, EPUB) - is that new? :p

Just like all those Mp3s you have on Google Music - be good now!
it is new to me and about damn time, I've been wanting something like this for ages...

This is really disappointing- organising your photos is still a royal pain in the ass using G+ and Picasa.

My camera uploads all these random shots- how do I organise them into albums? I can only see how to copy photos into albums in G+

I have a tonne of photos on my PC how do I upload them in a batch into albums?

I preferred the old Music app as i dont intend to use the subscription service so dont need it. Wish i could disable it so it only shows my music and playlists :/

Anyone got an apk of the previous Google Music App?

Bah! Find the new music app and play store etc. ugly looking now (never liked the stock music app anyway but it is even worse now imo) and they just seem a bit "cluttered/disorganised" *sigh* :(

Might have to root now tbh to get the themed/skinned versions of these apps :p

edit:

Here is a superb modified music apk if anyone is interested:

Need root.

You could just use something like:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blackout1911.theme.BlackedOutTheme

Makes all apps look beautiful :)

New play store in the above theme looks rather nice is the dark colour....
Im sure he will theme the new Music app too now that its out. He releases 2/3 updates every months normally and listens a lot to suggestions....

Hope someone sums up the important points of this after the event is concluded

For those of us who can't use cloud.. Is there much of interest?
