Girl hits cyclist then jokes about it on Twitter.

Well they do (both idiot car drivers and idiot cyclists are guilty), but there aren't that many police cars about to catch the act. I see more cars run red lights each morning than I do bikes (although that number is coming down as red light cameras are set up).

where do you live? i can count on one hand the amount of cars ive ever seen run a red light in all my years of driving and cycling...but cyclists? lost count ages ago.

you see multiple cars run red lights every single morning? wow.

I don't blame the employer for acting when they have been dragged into it, it's people bringing them into it in the first place that is reprehensible

It's nasty, spiteful with the clear intent to wreck someone's life. Hopefully if this wrecks her career the law will allow some form of legal redress against those who have caused it.

Before anyone jumps down my throat, her act was completely out of order and she needs punished but this had nothing to do with her career.

It is nasty and spiteful. However leaving someone for dead in the street and then joking about it online isn't the best either.

Another good reason not to live your life on the interweb, I'll keep my axe murdering and other minor character flaws to myself......;)

So that makes it right for people to hunt down her employer and potentially ruin her life and career and then glory about it on the net?

in some cases yes, in others no, here she could have killed someone, showed zero remorse, joked about it, and couldn't see that she was wrong. She is driving aggressively not safely, she could have ruined this mans life, and she could easily ruin someone elses in the future. Tailgating someone at 95mph thinking its funny, something she does often. What happens when she slams into a family and kills a kid in a crash due to her recklessness and awful attitude with no regard for safety.

THe woman who decided to use the internet to villify a couple guys having a private joke was WAY out of order, and IIRC the internet acting like a boomerang and came back and smacked her in the face. She had no right to go to the internet and get a guy fired for something trivial. Smashing someone off a bike, and driving aggressively, she's using her car as a weapon and frankly its only a matter of time before she actually does ruin someones life. The two guys making a joke did nothing worthy of the witch hunt, she has already hit someone and should already be held accountable, on top of that she's put other peoples lives at risk and will continue to do so till she's stopped so here, I fully agree with people going after her.

Personally I would like to know if one of my employees was a complete **** with no regard for other peoples lives. Perhaps I'm just being picky.

She should be held accountable by the relevant authorities though, not by internet vigilantism attempting to ruin any aspect of her life they can link to her twitter/facebook account.

Not picky at all, i feel exactly the same.

Not only that but actively committing crimes and boasting about it online.

She did not cause a witch hunt, morons on the Internet caused this. We have all made mistakes in our past, should we all have out lives wrecked and potential careers wrecked because some **** heads on the Internet decide to become the moral police of the world.

If you put your thoughts and every action into the public domain then do not cry when action is taken against you for publicly announcing you have committed crimes.

I don't dispute that she should be punished, I don't dispute that informing the police is the right thing to do. That is an entirely correct and public spirited thing to do ensuring that someone is punished for a crime.

For some random off the Internet to then approach her employer and inform them is reprehensible. None of their business and it is vindictive rather than seeking to right a wrong.

If people genuinely think this is acceptable I'm both baffled and worried with the way the world is going. As an example if I decided to dig through done threads on here and reporting people for some of the bloody stupid and unlawful/borderline unlawful stuff ocukers get up to how would you feel? Pretty ****ed but by ocuk logic you have posted it on the net so tough luck, time to suffer.

The lycra, sit in the middle of the road with my arse in the air brigade wind me up. Sitting behind them for mile after mile looking for a safe opportunity to overtake them. They expect me to make room for them, why can't they do the same for me?

I also happen to think that any cyclist should have to take a test granting them a licence and take their bicycles for yearly safety checks (MOT) before being allowed anywhere near a road.

Having said all that most cyclists I do encounter are no problem at all. It's just the very few that wind me up so very much.

As for the OP, stupidity in the extreme. Should have her licence revoked if true.

I think it is morally wrong, but that doesn't mean there will be any repercussions.

By that explanation I am in agreement. Police yes, employer no. Except under some very defined scenarios where duty of care is expected and driving is part of her job etc. Saying that reporting it to the Police and it being investigated would probably render her with a driving ban and by proxy... you see where I am going with that.

You mean they make you go on the other side of the road to overtake something moving slower than yourself?! Truly shocking.

You know what winds me up most about cyclists ( and 99% seem to do it). When you come to a red light, instead of just waiting in line at the point they were in, they ride to the front......then when the lights go green, everyone is stuck behind them again and everyone has to overtake them again!! Saw it happen once again this morning on my way to work.

The arrogance and stupidity of doing this is beyond belief.

Its called road safety, if the cylist is in a row of cars, where the cars are grouped together, cars other than the ones closest to the cyclist can have no idea they are there. When they attempt to change lanes because they want to turn left, have no idea the cyclist is there, and try and cut in then smash into a cylist, its bad.

The cyclist is the most in danger, so getting to the front of the queue gives him the safest way to get across a junction because the drivers in the lanes at the front will see him and cyclist gets pretty much to get across the junction before being overtaken, with most relevant cars knowing where he is. Past the junction with less/no turns, traffic as spread out, the cyclist is more visible and is in less danger.

Whilst I agree its annoying.
Why can't they use the middle of the road? They have as much right as you and I to use that space.

I have had a test and been granted a license the same as a lot of cyclists.

My bike is checked and cleaned after and before EVERY use. It is also serviced every 12 weeks

And Honestly your saying you've been stuck behind a cyclist for mile after mile.. come on really

I agree with you, unfortunately there are some very unpleasant people about, the young lady in question being one of them.

I urge, especially in London, bitter drivers to commute to work by bicycle rather than their cars (if possible).

I assure you that you will feel fresher, smiley and britherduring the day, especially if you have such angst towards cyclists, or people in general :)
