The worst service you've ever received?

I think most companies I regularly deal with (utilities for example) have given me gash service at some stage or another, latest would have to be Orange.

Called them up, and the advisor on the other end of the phone couldn't answer the question as to how it's possible they were charging me for a mobile phone contract that doesn't exist. So in the end they just slapped me on hold and waited for me to hang up.

Called back, and the next chap sorted me out within a couple of minutes.

lifetime is temporary :p

but no valve has the right to cancel subscription at any time.

How is lifetime temporary then? and valve will only cancel a persons steam account for something like cheating, or hijacking. Never heard of anyone getting there account shut down actually and i have nearly 600 people on my steam.

They can cancel it for anything they damn well like. You pay them for the privilege of using there service. They can choose to revoke that whenever they like.

Virgin media by far the worst i've experienced, a year of pure hell with these clowns, never again would i pay for their "service".

Next is British gas who didn't even bother to turn up to service my boiler as arranged, no phone call or anything just didn't turn up lol.

lol steam won't cancel an account for cheating, they block access to protected servers though.

but accepting.gifts from stolen.accounts/card fraud doing a charge back etc will have valve shut the account.

you should really read that agreement you sign up to on every purchase

Talk Mobile only allowed me to cancel my contract (once it had finished) on a specific day and told me to call back on that date. If I did not remember to call on that exact day they would just renew my contract. What a joke!

Vodafone.

When they set me up on my new contract they set-up two at once.

No problem you would think, easy to sort out - but no, they cancelled the second contact & then proceeded to charge me for the entire contract & take out £915 for my account when the bill for the first months contact was due (without telling me) (£37 a month x 24 for an entire contact I didn't even ask for - along with the £37 from the contact I did ask for).

The funny thing is they didn't even send me two phones...., when I phoned them they tried to make out they hadn't done anything wrong.

Explaining why exactly would I order two identical phones on the same day, then cancel one & still pay the entire contract length (but not get the phone) was like talking to a brick wall.

On-top of that, I've tried about 400 million times to set-up a direct debit, but either they mess it up, or the website is broken - so have to manually pay each time.

Toss up between Royal Mail and DVLA at the moment.

Royal Mail constantly looses anything I post and then says you have to wait several weeks before you can claim.

DVLA - can you tell me if anythings arrived regarding my car? No you have to wait 5 weeks for a reply which you may not get. Essentially they have such a **** system that they don't know if anything is happening on a particular car (i.e. tax refund / sold / bought / etc). Great what a modern system.

worst service

I can beat Debenhams, if you are looking at a new kitchen avoid Wren, first fitter failed to contact us for 2 weeks, 2nd fitter promised the earth then forgot? to order the worktop template date, and the wrong granite top was ordered. We now have a kitchen half completed after 1 1/2 weeks with no worktops or water!!

EE. Have awful signal, rang up 3-4 times and was promised a call back every time which of course never materialised. Eventually one nice girl offered a 25% contract discount and promised to ring back. Of course she didn't, and now nobody there will acknowledge that the discount was ever offered.

"All calls are recorded, but only when it suits us and not you."

We tried Wren for a quote from our kitchen and they were incredibly rude and ridiculously expensive. £4.5k for just the cabinets in our slightly larger than normal kitchen. Ikea on the other hand were £2.3k for all cabinets and doors.

However, Ikea customer service is terrible. Ordered a sofa from them about 6 weeks ago, came 2 weeks ago without the covers. I've had to spend at least an hour in a phone queue 6 times now in order to get a date for delivery, 3 delivery dates have passed so far and next is scheduled for Monday. Not confident on that. Just can't get an answer or any confidence in them being delivered. And they didn't say the covers weren't arriving in the first place.

Orange by far and away.

I cancelled my contract with them 2 years ago, and got a letter about 6 months ago, saying they were taking me to court for £800 of unpaid bills? It took 2 months of arguing with them to decide they were possibly wrong. I had another letter off them a couple of weeks ago, and that bill has no risen to £1100?

I've got a copy of the letter I sent to cancel the contract, and a letter of their confirmation, but they don't seem to care - So I'm letting them take me to court, and get laughed back out.

Currys

Bought a hifi there in 2001. The speakers were picking up the cd motor spinning and would make a clicking sound every second. You could only hear it at low levels, but I listened to music late at night.

Tried taking it back, but they were having none of it. The salesman even told me that I should have spent more money on a better system. Wrote a letter to their head office and got fobbed off with the same excuses.

Haven't bought anything from them or their sister companies since. And, yes, I bear grudges.

I once RMAed an OCZ vertex SSD which died on me after only 3 months.
Sent it in by regular mail and they claimed it never arrived. Nothing I could do about it.
About 15 months later I get an email from OCZ asking if my address is still the same, they have a replacement SSD for me :D
