*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

I've noticed mine keeps having a weird sort of lock screen, I can't get it to do it myself but its like a dark screen with a light source at the top with the samsung clock and then the number of unread notifications then the screen times out and when I wake it again I'm back to the normal lock screen?

it even did this when I wasn't using a different lock screen... anyone know what that is all about? its like a standby screen or something?

Mine should be here tomorrow
Prime customer.

grr..... :p
Have you noticed much in the ME2 update? I don't remember seeing KNOX in the manage apps bit before the update.

No, actually. In fact I'd go so far as to say I have noticed no difference at all, in anything :p no change in the screen for ghosting to red glows, no change in responsiveness, or battery life. I havent noticed any additional features. Actually, it's completely unremarkable :D

Sounds like the quick glance air gesture. Lock the phone and place your hand over the sensors at the top :) might need to put it on a flat surface first.

thats it... now we're really getting into pointless features!

Thanks that was doing my head in, like my phone was haunted or something, it only did it out the corner of my eye!

Thanks.

One other thing.. If I'm on a white screen - swear the bottom third of my screen has a very light purple tint to it.. Has anyone heard of anything like that?

Oh yes. I went through three of them, all with the same thing. Lined up 5 in P4U and they all had it to a certain extent.I gave up and bought a HTC One instead :o

In P4U one guy agreed with me and said he could see it clearly. The other guy said he couldnt see anything...so if you have bad eyes you might not notice it.

The best test i did for mine was to load the Gmail app. Look at an email block at the bottom and then look at one at the top....different shade/colour. Also, look at one at the bottom and scroll up and follow it with your eyes and watch it change hue/tint. You might not notice it if you look at it as a whole but if you look at the bottom half of the gmail app or white screen and take that in and then look at the top...well. It seemed most noticable in the dark with not much ambient light as well.

Haha yes thats the one i mean, not iDock. :o

I saw the cable has a USB connection on it, whats that for? Charging? I dont have a way to charge via USB without one of those cigarette lighter adaptor things.

Yup you plug in the micro usb that gives you audio out and also charging from USB. I just used one of the tiny cigarette lighter adaptors and that did me fine. I'm planning to run the cables down the back of the dash and splice in the cable to the back of the cigarette lighter to keep it out of sight.

I've been reading these pages for a while now and consider the mobilephonesdirect deal of £20.50 for 24 months and an upfront cost of £109 to be the best. It works out at just over £600 for 2 years .

Thing is, apart from a few mentions 3 weeks ago, no-one has said if they have ordered from these and what their service is like.

Has anyone had dealings with this company?

I see, cheers. :)

Everything that I have read about wireless charging has left me unconvinced. I asked myself why I wanted to pay more for a slower charging rate and need to correctly position the phone on the wireless pad.

It was this test that made me think again:

Thanks I'll read that later

And about charging it, I only charge it at night so the extra time wouldn't bother me ... The one I looked at on eBay is rated at 1.5 amp output, the stock plug in charger is only 2 amp so not too much difference

There will be a difference, wireless charging is not as efficient so even if they used the same adaptors, it would still be slower. Like the HP touchpad on the touchstone - it basically takes an extra hour to charge it fully, using the same wall plugs.

The S4 is no different - I wouldn't expect a tacked on wireless charging system to be anything special when the official charging pad already takes twice as long on what i assume is a 2a adaptor.

Got my phone how I want it, going to stay with stock until aosp is ready and works perfectly.

how would I go about getting a desktop like this? I new to android and havent really had chance to play yet.

Start with getting nova launcher. That will give you the stock android look.

I'm using beautiful widgets and minimal text widget.

I'm interested to see what rate the S4 is actually charging at. I've downloaded an app today to see if I can get a true charging rate.

If successful, it will then be interesting to compare someone who has bought the wireless charger to see what rate is actually achieved.

Don't think anybody here has posted about having a wireless charger

Spoke to a UK eBay seller though and they said that people have used their charging pad with a Nexus 4 in a plastic case and it worked fine, and that if I give it back in a re-saleable condition I can get a refund if it doesn't work

So after I think and decide I might go for it :)

Just got an S4 on upgrade from O2. £32 a month but free phone. Can't find much better than that apart from £30 at tescos and free phone.

Normally o2 are charging £159.99 for the phone on the £32 a month tarrif.
