@Nexus I swear you have a crystal ball or something similar LOL! ;) your prediction of a bigger HTC One is doing the rounds as a rumour! :p HTC One+ supersize anyone? :D I wonder how much it'll cost and if it will impact sales of the HO? I suppose that HTC are following Samsung's strategy, i.e Galaxy flagship and for those who want a bigger phone - the GN will cater for that.

There's no point of the Nexus range if this trend continues...and it's set to...the HTC One stock version release is imminent within this week apparently ;)

The Klugster did say that the one regret he had was not to award the HOS a better rating on Anandtec which I suppose he had a chance to make amends with the HO review.

Most definitely the S4 is a smaller and better Note 2!

- squarer/even corners (gs 3 were too rounded and weren't even i.e. the bottom were more rounded than the top)
- better home button (gs 3 hard home button just looked weird, the shape wasn't right and didn't fit the size of the bezel
- the lack of bezel, especially on the sides impressed me the most
- the plastic/metallic trim gives it a much better look and adds a perceived look to it
- slightly better camera lens, flash and speaker arrangement on the back
- colour! Couldn't stand the PB version, was just horrible imo

Agree with all the points above, but I really liked the PB version, it was unique and it changed colour in different lighting which added something to it.

The screen on the S4 is thankfully not curved so installing a screen protector on it won't give way to unslightly lifting on the edges and the sp will be flush throughout the screen which is a bonus!

The more I use the S4 the more I'm impressed with it, yes I've said this before but I really like this phone. However My N4 is being used again as the S4 is going back, not due to a fault but to take advantage of the DSR and price drop. It'll feel strange using the N4 again, particularly since I've been using my S4 as my daily driver since I got it.

No worries mate, let us know how you get on!

Mate, I emailed Amazon and they came back stating that they can't honour the difference as when the phone was delivered it was just outside the 10 day period.

I then said that I'm going to return the phone via DSR and they then came back stating that that's up to me if I wanted to take the route.

So the phone's been factory reset and put back in it's box again waiting after the Bank Holiday to send it back to them. Let's hope that the new S4 is as good as the unit that's going back, knowing my luck with phones no doubt the new purchase will have issues of some kind. LOL!

+1. Anytime stoosh.

Cheers Mate :)

Still not rooted yet and installed a custom ROM yet Mate?

@stoosh

hehe I found that quite amusing too :D As soon as I mentioned it here, next thing you see articles on a bigger device coming :D :p

If it is a true competitor to the note range i.e. a screen size of 5.3-5.6" and not just a slightly bigger one with better specs (supposedly specs will be same but the battery will most likely be bigger) then I don't think it will impact sales of the one too much, if at all.

Lets just hope they reduce the bezel and speaker area/size etc. otherwise say a 5.5" screen device, with the current one design will be rather big/tall and uncomfortable to use!

It seems these days that the bigger the screen, the better for many people, could never go bigger than 5" personally.

Yup, if this is going to be a common occurrence then the only point of nexus devices will be to show of the latest android version.

Indeed and IIRC he has only ever given 2 awards out before, can't remember which phones they were though! :p :o It is a shame that the one S wasn't more popular, most of the forums for it are starting to get rather quiet now :( Such an under rated phone!

No matter what the lighting was like or angle that I looked at it from, I could only ever see blue or/and purple! (unless it was more or less pitch black :p :D)

True, forgot about the screen curve, I kind of liked it on the GS 3 but can't say it is something that bothers me too much :p Although I can see what you mean by using SP on it.

Hmm, unlucky, shame they didn't just give you a refund rather than having to DSR it etc. Just pray that you don't get a faulty one! :p

Stoosh :

Thank you mate, just spoke to someone on chat and they added it to my order :)

No worries Mate, am glad that I could help :)

@Nexus

It was amusing eh? You must have insider information :p

If the screen size is around 5.3-5.6" that counts me out, I think 4.7-5" is the sweet spot. I couldn't get on with the Note 2 size as it was too big for my small hands :o as much as I liked the phone I had to pass on it.

Having said that if it is marketed as a Note competitor then at least HTC have finally got some common sense and trying to go all out and pose some competition to Samsung and not lie down and get run over. Please please please include a high capacity battery though and don't do the usual HTC faux pas and include a battery that doesn't do the device of that size justice

They have to reduce the bezel / speaker size otherwise the phone will be way too tall to use, that was one of my complaints with the HO and thus made reaching for the power button a mission and proved to be annoying to say the very least. :(

Yes true but that then puts Nexus devices on a knife edge, what's the point of releasing them when you can get your hands on a higher specced device? Maybe the days of Nexus devices are numbered? Who knows....only Google does and that's for sure

The mobile phone industry moves extremely quickly and tech becomes dated at an incredible rate, the HOS is around a year old? Maybe that's why the HOS forums are slowing down but I'm sure they will pick up when it gets the imminent Sense 5 update, the phone will be given a new lease of life :D

I agree the HOS was the most underrated phone of 2012.

I don't know either which phones the Klug gave two awards out for...must do some research as I'm intrigued. One of them better not be an iphone! :p

The PB S3 was lovely, I got used to it :p except yes that purple home screen button was awful :(

The SP on my S3 looked awful, it lifted around 0.5cm around the edges and detracted from the look of the phone. It was as if a 5 year old had just slapped a piece of plastic on the screen, not a good look especially since the S3 wasn't much of a looker anyway

The SP on my S4 sits perfectly flush and doesn't look like there's one actually on the phone which is a bonus :)

I was rather surprised as well, means another trip to the nearest collect+ and dropping the phone off. What a mission :(

Knowing my luck I will end up with a faulty phone

Have already started praying to the phone gods to make sure it doesn't happen though LOL! ;)

Under NDA! :p :D

Likewise, love the note II, but too big, not so much for the hands but because you feel like an idiot when you get a phone call :o :p and too big for trouser pockets.

The battery should be quite a big bigger since they will be able to fit it in due to bigger dimensions, they would be stupid to increase the screen size to something like 5.5" without having a bigger battery.

No idea, one thing for sure is that google will still continue with their "nexus" phones as notice how the HTC one and GS 4 aren't actually called nexus devices, only "xxxxxx with a nexus user experience"

Yup, just over a year old now! Nope :p, just wasn't popular/received well :p One X, GS 3 etc. forums are still buzzing away, heck even the GS 2 forums are more active still! :o :p Yeah hopefully! A few members on XDA have gone back to the S after having had the nexus 4, GS 3 etc.!

Tried having a quick search but couldn't find anything! I am pretty sure someone on XDA said that only 2 phones have got some kind of an award....... All I know for definite is that the only phone which has received the "editors choice award" is the htc one.

Forgot about that awful home button regarding the finish/colour :o Can't remember, does the GS 4 have it too? If it did, it didn't stand out as much anyway!

You should check out that liquid armour stuff, it looks pretty good, keep meaning to buy the liquid crystallization one, which is suppose to be very resistant to fingerprints/grease marks (can't stand finger prints etc.)

You must be use to it by now! A daily trip for you! :D :p

is the GT-I9505 the uk version which as 4g and quad core at 1.9ghz... and the GT-I9500 is another version which as Octa Core Processor 1.6GHz Quad + 1.2GHz Quad CPU Speed??

As 4g = Has 4g?

It depends which model you order? Some ebay sellers are selling the i9500. Amazon are selling the i9505 which HAS 4g.

Item model number: GS4B GTI9505 <- From amazon product page.

yes but tbh if u understood what i mean why try to be a big head by pointing out mistakes..

hence why i am asking what model are you guys receiving from uk retailers, GT-I9500 or GT-I9505

Why did I point it out? The reason is this ; I can't stand text speak which is what you appeared to have been doing, though I thought maybe you may have issues with spelling or be confused... so I asked.

The answer is simple, read the description from your seller of choice. No two places are the same and you can't expect a list of uk sellers and which model from a forum.

I got the NeoHybrid but even though it's a thin case it makes the phone feel bulky so I spotted using it when I'm not going out and about.

just because u can't stand text speak doesn't give u the right to point it out. most people on this reason why i type like this. i'm disabled, i can't walk / can't use my hands / can't speak much. so i use a on screen keyboard and use the mouse with my chin.

i never asked for a list of uk sellers.

on samsung site someone asked them will the Octa Core Processor version (which i guess is GT-I9500) come to the uk and they said no..

so everybody on here who has bought a s4 from a uk phone retailer should have got the GT-I9505. hence why i'm asking if thats true. not about what retailers has it.

In need of some flashing help. I am trying to flash CMW through Odin. It seems to work fine but when I go into recovery mode it says "no command".

And now I can't get into recovery mode. I let go of all the buttons when I see the blue letters but it simply restarts the phone normally.
