England v New Zealand Cricket Test Series

We lead by 429 runs and have come out after lunch to bat, the highest ever run chase is 418... Cook is going to look stupid if New Zealand hang on for a draw with 1-2 wickets to spare.

edit: rain is forecast for tomorrow as well.

Smacks a little of Ponting at the Oval. Except we don't need a result.

the batters needed the practice more than the bowlers before the ashes, i think thats why its taken so long to declare

Not too fussed about the decision not to follow-on, good batting practice and also probably more to the point it gave the bowlers a rest too.

Last thing we need with 6-odd weeks until the Ashes is for Anderson to pull up with an injury from bowling two innings straight just to 'look aggressive' when the match was basically in the bag anyway.

Nice series win anyway, bring on the Aussies!

I think not enforcing the following on was fine but the way England batted was a bit puzzling and left us fortunate to get the win - could easily have been over last night if we'd been more aggressive with the bat or with our declaration.

LOL already NZ are 1-2 in the first game of the 50 ODI series. Kept England to a total of 227-9 but are making a real meal of this run chase:p

Absolutely hilarious stuff from NZ who have seemed to forgotten how to bat properly lol.

Really don't like this ODI stuff compared to the Tests. Just doesn't have the same appeal.

Unrelated topic, did anyone catch Voices of Summer last night about old commentators on TMS? Haven't listened yet but I expect it was very good. It featured Arlott, Brian Johnston and co, both of whom I'm too young to remember.

Seems like Ross and Guptill have made a good recovery to get NZ to 78-2 after losing 2 quick wickets earlier on.

Anyone really going to be watching the Champions trophy??, ill probably watch a few games ie Pakistan if anything...if anything will give me a great laugh if Pakistan end up losing all their group games:p
