Show us your kitty cats

I had the honour of bringing little Kiwi home with me tonight. What a little bundle of joy. He has totally taken over the house, is so inquisitive and wants all of the fuss he can possibly get! He is so excited to investigate etc that every time I try take a photo he moves but here is one when he finally stopped nibbling on my friends toes:

I had that same rug in my office...until my cat wazzed on it.

Kiwi looks brilliant, I just hope he treats your rug better than my cat did mine. :p

I hate that rug, it was a "stop gap" until I got something better. That was 18 months ago. I should really pull finger and do something about it... :p

Wait until Kiwi is a bit older and not wrecking the joint (translates as carpets) before you change the rug :D

Yeah don't buy any new furniture until your confident Kiwi won't be scratching it to death lol. I have a really old sofa and armchair I would dearly love to get replaced but with the fostering you never know if the cats are going to have a go at them and then early next year I hope to get my Maine Cooon cats so won't want new furniture with them about!!

Just make sure he has a couple of scratch posts and place them in the areas he is scratching up :)

Is it cruel to have a flat-cat?

I'm moving in with the girlfriend in August and we want to ask the landlord if we can have a cat however we will be living in a block of flats (ground floor though) but we have our front door and then a security door leading to the outside. Front of house is a main road and behind house is a community grass area which is quite large but on the far side is another main road. We couldn't let the cat out automatically unless we actually let it out. We also work from around 8am - 6pm shifts so not at home for a lot of the day.

It's not cruel if the cat is used to being an indoors cat. If it was outdoors then perhaps not ideal.

If in doors, grow a pot of normal lawn grass for it to nibble on and get a few cat toys that will exercise the cat.

Not cruel. If they don't know it they can't miss it. I have 2 indoor cats, 1 wouldn't cope because he's terrified of everything, the other we got from a kitten so doesn't know what its like.

However, if your out a lot I'd suggest getting two cats or kittens as they can keep each other company when your not there. With enough stimulation and exercise opportunities they will be healthy cats.

Well it's a 2 bed flat with a large living room so we're hoping we can buy some cat things for them to climb on and chew haha we don't have much expensive furniture or anything so it's all good in that sense.

Won't be for a fair few months yet as we need to get settled in the flat ourselves first, just checking whether it's fair.

I've got 2 cats which live in a 2 bed flat and the other half takes them for walks round the field out back to get them out. Does look a little wierd but always reminds me of this

A lot of it depends on whether your cat will actually eat the stuff.
Applaws dry food and Orijen (dry food) are very high quality - though there are rumours that Applaws have had some quality control issues, so many cat owners are boycotting their dry food.

Nutritionally speaking, though, Applaws is the best.

My cats are not big fans of Animonda Carny and lose weight when on this.

Right now, I am feeding my cats Whiskas wet food, and raw beef (from Iceland). I find that raw beef is the anabolic ingredient and my new Bengal has grown plenty in the 2 weeks I have had him.

When I got my previous Bengal 5.5 yrs ago, I remember my breeder stating that there is definitely a difference in size/build of a cat which has been brought up on raw meat and those cats which have grown up eating dry food. I have to agree with this.

Another point to make is that while food is important, there are cats which have lived to a long age eating bog standard, el cheapo dry cat food from the supermarket, so do not assume that just because you feed expensive cat food to your cat, that it will live a long healthy life. This is definitely not the case.

Well, off to the vets!

Gabriella just came home with some blood on her back. Under a light i see a .22 Air rifle pellet stuck right on her spine!!!:mad:

To hit her there i think she must have been laying down and some kind person thought she was a nice target.

I swear if i see whoever done it (unlikely) i'll rip their throat out.....

WHAT?!

That is APPAULING :mad::mad::mad:

Just spoke to the emergency vet. He said its not uncommon!!!

That is so horrible - I would be sickened at the type of person who could do that:mad:

Here are some pics of Tiny (the small Bengal cat, 3 months old):
The other cat he with is Reflex (Egyptian Mau, 5.5 yrs old).

It took about 24 hours for the young kitten (Tiny) to stop hissing at Reflex. It also helps that Reflex is very confident/dominant with other cats and generally doesn't hiss at them (he prefers to play-fight instead), which in turn reduces the hissing from other cats around him.

The new kitten is very playful and very confident. Very bold. Even when fighting with Reflex who is about 3 times his size, he doesnt back down, so the personalities of the 2 cats match.

I suspect that this is a kid/teenager, experimenting with air guns.

I was watching Judge Judy the other day and there was a case where a farmer put down (shot) his cat as she was on her last legs. I was quite surprised to hear that it is illegal in the USA for a owner to shoot their cat.

So, in the USA, the person who shot hardkore's cat, would certainly be prosecuted.

I'm not sure what the rules in the UK are, though.
