That could have been worse. Quite enjoyed it but lost count of my laps so not sure if it was 5 or 6.

Also, just under 50 miles and the first time I've gone over 20 in 2013. Don't feel too bad and the pace felt ok.

Do any of you others who go to RP go clockwise or do you all go anti-clockwise?

Aye, even that's pain in the arse enough, getting the tyre off, checking for what did it, replacing the tube, getting the tyre back on, pumping it up... Even with the best will in the world I think it would take me at least fifteen minutes.

beats walking home like i did yesterday morning. so from now on spare tubes go with me.

Clockwise for me.

I'll be back there as soon as my knee's healed, I need to improve on my 56:07 lap, current position 6906th / 6989. :D

I alternate for a bit of variety by doing a U-turn at the Richmond Gate roundabout.

Broomfield Hill needs to be climbed!

Awesome ride mate! That looks rock hard.

So, i took advantage of the fact my step-daughter was rowing up at Lochwinoch yesterday to head off and get 50 miles in. I bought a book of scottish hill climbs a while back and it gave me chance to tick off 3 from the list: Lyle Rd, Old Largs Rd and Dalry Moor

Weather was typically mental - left Lochwinnoch and into Greenock in glorious sunshine. Then as i went up the knee destroying incline onto the old largs rd, the wind picks up and i'm struggling to hit 12kph! Then when i finally hit what would be an amazing descent - monsoon! Utterly drenched and freezing cold by the time i hit sea level. Then the final major climb over Dalry Moor turns out to be a total beast, and by now the sun is out again and the road looks like it's been on fire with all the steam rising off of it. Would have looked cool if my vision hadn't blurred to the extent i could only look at my front wheel as i desperately tried to continue breathing!

Good fun though in that sick and twisted way we seem to enjoy on hills! :)

Cheers. The first 35-40 miles was mainly uphill and into a headwind. That combined with the distance has drained me. I have zero energy today, I feel awful :D

Your ride sounds like it was fun. NOT. At least I had sunshine!

i need to take a ride to RP one day.. its 20 miles one way so 40 miles journey just to get there and back, how long is one lap then? 5ish miles?

Finally made it home! Wasn't planning on a century today but after the problems I had I sure as hell wasn't going to go through all that and not do one! :D

http://app.strava.com/activities/57535387 Knackered. By far my hardest ride to date.

Edit: I'll admit Winnats Pass nearly broke me. Its the hill from hell and I don't want to do it ever again! :D

Is a pretty tough climb that one. I did it as part of the Tour of the Peaks a couple of years ago along with the Cat & Fiddle and Holme Moss.
The Wiggle of The Peaks is also on today - a fabulous day for it. Anyone here do it?

My mother in law has taken to calling me bicycle repair man... The other day she came round and I was cleaning my road bike. Today she comes round and I've got my mountain bike upside down in the driveway replacing an inner tube.

I've been trying to teach my 6 year old to ride her bike with less reliance on her stabilisers, so raising them up a bit and trying her with them off altogether with one of us holding her up. She told me she's having trouble keeping her feet on the pedals and they keep falling off and she needs clippy shoes like me. Anyone know where I can get spd shoes in a kids size 11?

I'm kidding ;)

It's hard enough fitting a bike for myself, never mind a little girl! I've raised her saddle so her knees are straighter at the bottom of the stroke, which I think will help.

'Bout 7 miles.

Three laps under the hour is the unofficial benchmark

If you want to try that, don't try doing it during the daytime, cars get in the way!!!

Got my old bike out for a ride today down to Surrey for what would have been yesterday's ride. Was a bit steady (HR average VV low for me), not helped by traffic, but pleased to have a decent distance in my legs ready for the dragon ride. I say ready, not sure about that yet, but as long as I finish I'll be happy:

Pleased with my climbing as well - haven't been up Box Hill for ages and last time it was nowhere near as smooth and I really enjoyed going up it today. Helped that it was full of people who were struggling who I was able to get past :)

Nice ride! Did you not think compared to Ranmore Common and Chapel Lane (Bagden hill), Box Hill is relatively easy though?

I was out again today on exactly the same route with a mate that normally does tri but has been neglecting his bike. Managed a PR on Box Hill of 6:59! Still not even in the top 1000 of the segment though.

My mileage the last few weeks has been dreadful,

I cant seem to drag my ass out of bed early enough to get out before plans kick in

Oh yeah, shame I didn't approach Ranmore from the other side as that looked nasty. I was actually surprised how slow people were going up Box Hill, guess it is a Sunday though so you get all sorts.

Oh and my mate did this ride yesterday:

341km. Can't get my head around that!
