Anyone gone from a PC to iMac then back to a PC?

I'm the opposite. Whenever I use Windows (and I have to because of my day job) I find it frustrating. I have to install an SSH client because it doesn't have one built in, for example. I don't have the ability to call upon the underlying UNIX subsystem in Windows. It's like computing with one hand tied behind my back.

And when I'm not in power user mode (I.e I'm writing or editing videos) I find OS X gets out of my way. Windows doesn't. Also, and I'm not trying to incite hatred, writing and video editing tools are much better on OS X.

The same can be said about OSX, its swings a round abouts. As use a number of applications don't run in OSX, VMware Client is one for a example. So I have to use Parallels or Fusion, to get the task I wanted to do done.

Yes, I know the VMware vCenter you can you use the web interface. However, its not the best and its also based on flash which can be a pain in the ass at times.

I've never had any problems editing video's or photographs using the Adobe Creative Suite, if anything it runs much better on my PC. However, that's probably due to the hardware being of a higher grade.

SSH is native to UNIX, so yes it has that advantage. However, I just use Putty or use a CentOS VM when I need to use SSH. I do find that PuttyND or Putty Manager to be much more useful when having multiple SSH windows open.

Macbook Air, iPad Mini, iPhone 5 is all you ever need, then a console if you do gaming. If anyone owns multiple apple products they will tell you how slick iCloud really is. Push/Pull data is fantastic. Really does just work.

There is nothing iCloud does that I can't do between my three devices.

I had an iPhone 2 years ago, then S2, S3 and soon probably S4. Never ever looked back.

I do love my iPad though.

Nope, never gone to Mac. It has zero appeal to me, but then I'm not seduced by shiny white things with no real use to me.

Yeah, and that's odd too seeing as VMware use Macs in the company (as they did a deal with Apple supplying VMware vSphere to Apple's data centre)

I use the Web Client mostly. But it isn't as good. Still not as bad as SQL Management Studio. I have no choice but to use Windows for that. :(

Agreed though, horses for courses when it comes to an OS. I just like the intuitive nature of OSX with the power of UNIX.

Excuse me? Higher grade? What does that even mean.

Aperture, Pixelmator, Motion, Final Cut - none of these exist on Windows. They're my tools of choice and they run much better on OS X! :p Never been a fan of Creative Suite.

Scrivener (my choice of tool for writing) does have a Windows version but I prefer it on OS X.

I needed a laptop for my final year in Uni, got a rMBP. I really like it. It does everything I need, and I can get my games working without problems. I have installed W7 with bootcamp, but after only using it to run Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL, I don't use it much anymore.
For Linux I just use VirtualBox.

I'm constantly in OS X, and I'll be getting an iMac when I get a desktop next.
I'm sure I'll need windows again at some stage, when that arises I'll have it installed all ready at least.

I can use a mac and don't mind the iPad I have at work, but I'm so familiar with PCs that I don't see myself going to a mac fully - I just don't know enough about how to make it work for me, I'm stuck in the usage of letting the mac tell me what to do - rather than me telling it what I want!

I also don't like the premium they carry but do like the design. There are a feet things that I find awkward with them that would keep me away from them.

Like apple prefer pcs. :)

Prefer my nexus 7 to our retina iPad, feels faster and more slick in general. IOS is badly needing an overhaul

Have to say I agree. I prefer my nexus 7 than the iPad for most things (not everything), but the iPad is still cool, but I'd never pay for one.

Once I used an ipad but the doctor said i didn't need to wear it anymore. :D When ipad first came out i thought it was a new women's product from apple. A digital pad, a pad for the future.

Seriously though once i used my sisters iphone to make a phone call and that was enough for me.

at the end of the day..... everything works so no point debating it any more.

:D

I think theres a special key on the mac keyboard that automatically types out the line "It just works"

Tried out an iMac last week, gave up after 3 days, the stupidest fiddlest crap i ever used. iPhones now look like a joke compared to Samsung phones. I have to literary have to squint when using my gf's 4s, forget web browsing on the thing. Even the 5 looks like something out of 2008. But all apple boys can is BBUUIIILLLDDD QUALITY!!!!111 yeah, but it's all the same when you stick it in a case

Not to mention iOS now looks so dated i just laugh everytime i look at it

I believe those are PEBKAC errors, rather than anything being intrinsically wrong with the software. :)
