Car rear ended me. He claims i reversed into him

Hopefully they will rip him a new one, then do him for fraud.

I've been thinking about getting a camera of some sort for a while, is there such a thing as a double lensed one that can do front and rear?

Double points if it can stream to an android device via wifi/bluetooth? pref at least DVD quality?

Do you realise how easy it is to fake a witness? Insurers don't have magic lawyers like you see on TV who can Denny Crane people into slipping up or confessing they are lying. If someone is brave enough and has the will to just bare faced lie, they can get away with an awful lot.

People can easily withdraw/revise statements if it gets to an official court hearing of some kind, I have a feeling 99% of claims are settled after a bit of toeing and froing between insurance companies, which is where a false witness statement can really throw things.

I think the safest course of action for any future incidents is to call the police, even pretend you're hurt if need be, so that they actually come.. That way no-one can pull any crap out of the bag. At least on fake witnesses.

This. AFAIK if an ambulance is called then the police have to attend too.

I too watched it without sound. I assume it's all in johnny foreign anyway! Quite shocked that there are people around trying to pull something so blatant.

haha yea that was my assumption that i wouldn't be able to understand what they say anyway.... can pretty much guess xD

but yea... the fact that they slow down...crawl...stop abruptly when they think the dude behind is close enough....he doesn't hit... DAMN! cheeky rev in reverse and then have the audacity to get out and instantly look at the back and pointing the blame. cheeky SOBs!! even without the camera i would have hoped there would be passers by to say what a tool they were.

as for this witness that's just popped up, hopefully insurance will see through it. surely if you say there was no witnesses then that should discredit the other driver and his "witness".

Call their bluff and take it to court - tell your insurance that they are lying and not to pay anything out at all.

so he found a friend who'd lie for him. well i guess that you could ask for checks to be made on him/his employer to see if he was at work or something that day/time.

Big difference between being brave enough to lie to an insurance company for a mate with zero potential consequence and being asked to lie for a mate in court with some very real potential consequences.

The "witness" has very little to gain by agreeing to lie when it comes to court, however he/she has a LOT to lose. If the insurance company is persistent enough, they'll be able to get to the bottom of it.

Have you got names of the person who hit you and the name of the witness? If so, might be worth doing a bit of Facebook stalking to see if you can link them.
