*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Thanks for the advice. I've gone with the 16gb S4 with a Samsung UHS1 64gb card.

I was all set to root it and then noticed that the update that had automatically gone on, had changed the kernel and baseband. Apparently the new baseband version (ending in MDM) is not rootable. Anyone know anything about this.

edit. Things are moving quickly - LINK

:)

yeah I was going to say, things don't stay locked up for long lol :)

iirc the US versions have locked bootloaders and they've beaten the international version to official nightly ROM support so I wouldn't pay too much attention to any of that.

Good luck! I can wholeheartedly recommend wanamlite ROM with JB Domination, holo locker, nova launcher and then trim everything with nobloat free. I have almost no touchwiz at all and where it is it doesn't look like touchwiz!

Just wondered if anyone who has one of the Spigen Neo Hybrid cases could tell me what the back feels like?

I ask as I have finally ordered my S4 and I was going to get the Casemate Tough for it as I have one on my S2 and I love the way the back is rubberized and rough so its easy to hold and it not slip out of your hand. It also does a good job protecting the phone as I have dropped the phone a few times with no ill effects.

So what are people opinion on how well the Hybrid protects the phone?

Its a rubber so its soft however when its on its against the phone so feels hard. Its smooth. I was worried it was too rubbery which would mean its a pain to get it in and out your pocket but thats not the case. If you like a rubbery feel try something else tbh.

You know it looks so good I am gonna go for it lol. Has anyone gone for the Spigen Glass.tr screen protector with the case? I am assuming I only need to put the front protection on as if you put the back protector on the case won't fit?

How on earth has spigen wound up getting so much support on this forum for what is a bog standard case you can't even buy on the high street?

Anyway.. is anyone using the CM10.1 unofficial nightlies? I'm looking to confirm whether or not bluetooth is working for calls via car kits? Thats a show stopper for me.

I have that case. the back is that "soft plastic" feel, like Razer has on there mouses or what you find on the back of some tablets . So quite nice and dos'nt make your hand sweat like a high gloss plastic. I got mine from there Ebay store £16.99 i think

Well for the price and for what people are saying it seems like a decent case and a bit cheaper than the casemate I was going to go for. I think I am going to go through the jungle place as hear that some of the ones on ebay are fakes.

The only thing I would say on my "red" looks like a blood read on the site but its more aof a bright red, the plastic on that band is very glossy. If they did a model where that band was made of brushed steel or aluminium it be perfect.

The general fit is really high quality this shows on the flash and camera holes wants its fitted, looks like a seamless part of the phone almost

Well I have seen a few of pics of the silver one on a black s4 and it really looks good. Its a matte silver apparently so not a glossy finish which I find nicer.

so... easy come ... easy go ... got S4 saturday ... dropped S4 today... smashed screen, but the touch screen still works as does everything on the phone. gutted. insurance is covering the repair/replacement but that's not the point.

Oh, and before anyone jumps on giving me a hard time, don't. The Mrs has already done that and there is no way that you guys can beat that!

...and to think, only last night I was looking at the tough cases!!!

If it makes you feel better ive got my s4 back today after having the screen replaced, only I hadn't got around to registering mine with my bank account. Its cost me 160 pound for my troubles.

To make matters worse it was a girl at work who nocked it off the desk and broke the screen...

I'm not the only one to break their new toy then? Phew.

Waiting a few weeks before I get my camera repaired. I guess the one thing touch phones have become is more susceptible to accidental damage. Old Nokia's could take a beating!

So I assume if I have bought my S4 from Mobiles.co.uk that it is going to be the I9505 version? Or can I check when I get the phone, is there a label or something with it written on? I ask because I will want to root this and get a non bloat ware Rom on it but want to get the right model on XDA.

It'll almost certainly be the 9505 version, but either way it tells you when it boots up and I imagine it's on a sticker under the battery cover but I've not got mine next to me so can't check.

It will be a I9505.

It says on boot and on the back of the phone below the battery. It also says in the settings/about menu.
