***Official Intel Haswell Thread***

I wonder what exactly is 'Haswell Refresh' ? Is this akin to 2700k compared to 2600k ??

Odd combining it with a new chipset. But if the new process isnt up and running in time, I guess a board/cpu refresh is the next best thing revenue wise.

Any recommendations on what RAM to get for my new Haswell build?

Going with the 4770k (obviously) and a Gigabyte UD3H, but not sure what RAM to go with. It seems like on the Intel platform going with high RAM speeds and high latencies isn't really what you want to do.

So, 1600, 1866, 2133? What recommendations do you have?

For anyone who doubts these chips can clock.

my 4670k at 4.6ghz at 1.25volts is getting temps of around 70 both with AIDA and OCCT. Cooled with the Dark Rock Pro SR1 which is a mid range cooler. Either that or ive got a diamond of a chip! :D

Mine needs 1.265v for 4.5Ghz and i cant get 4.6Ghz stable (just about boots) at all even using 1.35v! and trying a lot of other things.

I must be quite lucky in the Silicon Lottery I guess. It feels like my chip could do a lot more. Im tempted to buy an NH-D14 or Silver Arrow and see what they bring as far as temps go.

I think topping out at 70 with 4.6 at 1.25 volts is good on a mid to high end cooler which is the Dark Rock Pro SR1.

I do feel for the guys that are having bad OC's with these though it seems the margin for OC'ing these chips is much higher than in previous generations.

For anyone that's interested my Batch Number is: L309B247.

It does look like you have a decent chip there.
My temps max at 76c ([email protected]) and thats with a quad rad and three gts running @ 1300rpms approx
I do have my 7970 in the loop also so i'm telling myself thats adding so much heat to the loop at idle :D;)

My batch: L307B086

Under water with a Quad Rad should be plenty of cooling capacity! Much more so than my modest Air cooler!

I think you will have to keep telling yourself that your 7970 is a little warmer than expected ;)

Hey Shawreyboy I just checked my 4670K box and mine is the same batch, so it will be interesting how mine compares once I get my case sorted out :).

Hi all should I be losing my raid 0 setups when overclocking?

Twice now on my two raid0 setups I've lost 1 of each drives very weird

Well hopefully that batch is a decent one and its not a case of me just being lucky.

I will try to lower the vcore when i get the time to see what the threshold of being stable is. I did have a pleasant surprise when it did boot into windows let alone be stable in AIDA and OCCT. May try IBT and see what that does. But i did play a few hours of games last night and everything seemed really stable temps of under 60 :). Average of 55.

EDIT: Using IC Diamond. Great stuff! Just a small rice grain size was all i used.

Shawrey.

There does not seem much discussion on prime95 stability here. Are people doing it with Haswell or is it giving heat issues?
